The purpose of the study is to develop and apply Dokdo class materials with questions about Dokdo
from actual students to ultimately seek the direction of the Dokdo education. To accomplish the goal,
many approaches were created such as looking at Dokdo with an unfamiliar stance- Dokdo and
Conservative swing in Japan, Dokdo Mock-trial and the limitation of international courts and merged the
teaching of geography, history, and social studies teachers. The results were analyzed by conducting pre
and post surveys and in-depth interviews from the perspective of “Dokdo class” and “Subject Convergence
PBL”. The results were the following. First, students became more interested in Dokdo and became more
amicable to Japan. Their blind faith that, “Dokdo is our land” has been faded and became able to reason
logical explanations behind the contention. Second, the difficult assignments and the authenticity intrigued
and raised the participation. Third, through fused-classes, teachers were able to set a fundamental
education philosophy of Dokdo education and implement a ‘Growth mindset’ for their students.
