The social workers in the psychological health total care services provide
services for mental patients with disorders and disabilities of having dual
personalities. Their tasks have characteristics of 1:1 care which includes support in
daily living to risk management. Therefore, the social workers are more exposed
to work-related stresses. They intervene in the dangerous situations of users; and
in extreme cases, they have to deal with the suicide cases of their users, which
leads to extreme stress and emotional burn out. Therefore, the objective of this
study is to find the effect of work-related stress of social workers at psychological
health total care services on their job burn out and intentions for job transfers. In
this study, the social workers in the psychological health total care services, which
is one of the investment businesses of local social services, were targeted for
survey study. Therefore, the questionaries collected from 80 participants were used
to perform multiple regression analysis. The analysis result was as follows. First,
role conflict which is a sub-factor of work-related stress was shown to increase job
burn out. Second, role conflict which is one of the sub-factors of work-related
stress was shown to increase the intention for job transfer. Third, the role
ambiguity which is one of the sub-factors of job-related stress was shown to have
no significant effect on job burn out and intention for job transfer.
