The subject for this study was middle school students recognized and the purpose is to investigate the influence
that depression and self-esteem mediated from families of the students have on. For solving these topics, 677
students (male and female) living in Busan were selected by stratified random sampling method and were asked
to fill out a questionnaire. Tools used for measurement are dysfunctional family index, internet addiction index,
self-esteem index and depression index.
In short, the results derived from this study are as followed.
Internet addiction of middle school students are influenced by dysfunctional families and depression.
Dysfunctional families in particular have direct influences on internet addiction and dysfunctional families can lead
to depression which acts as a medium that influences internet addiction. Therefore, to decrease internet addiction
of middle school students, elimination of the factors regarding dysfunctional families has to be done in prior. In
addition, it would be more effective if the development of programs that help to reduce depression is performed
simultaneously.
