The purpose of this study was to integrate and to identify the effect of group counseling programs on
interpersonal relationships conducted for the teenagers in Korea from 2002 to 2011, using meta-analysis
technique. In total, 45 studies were analyzed and 80 effect sizes were produced. The result of meta-analysis
output 80 effect cases among 45 treatises. First, total average effect size of group counseling programs for
interpersonal relationships is .97, which is high level in case of Cohen criteria. Second, the effect size of
dependent variable was self-relationship( =1.19), school life(1.16), interpersonal relationship(1.14), sociality(0.58).
This result was showed that group counseling programs for interpersonal relationships have the effect to
teenagers. Also, group counseling programs for interpersonal relationships had almost all effects except sociality,
and there is no difference between dependent variable.Third, in effect size of intermediate subject of programs,
the effect size of member's each school was senior student of a primary school(1.57), middle school(1.14), high
school(0.50) and effect size of member's distinction of sex reveal coed group(1.3), male(1.21), female(0.99). The
effect size according to subject was student of having impulse(2.63), maladjustment student to interpersonal
relationships(2.21), maladjustment student to school life(1.57), student of low self scale(1), a general student(0.88).
The average effect size according to voluntary participation was involuntary participation(1.29), voluntary
participation(1.27). Forth, in effect size by intermediate variable, the effect size according to group size was
below 6 members(6.5), 7~10 members(1.58), 11~15 members(1.46), over 21 members(0.69), 16~20 members(0.21) and effect size according to real time was group within 1month(1.65), 2~3 month(1.46), over 6
month(1.39), 1~2 month(1.24) and 3~4 month(10.49). The effect size of total session number was showed
5~9session(1.77), 10~14session(1.26). The effect size of the session number during week was 2session during a
week(1.56), 3session during a week(1.13), occasionalness(1.07), 1session during a week(0.99). The effect size
according to time of session was under 60(1.27), 60~90min.(1.11), 91~120min.(0.58). Also not having
counseling psychology major(2.30) was higher than counseling psychology major(1.21) in effect size according to
programs leader. And the effect size of first session program process purpose is forming trust(1.58). Middle
session program therapy factor is cognitive factor(1.71), the effect size of final session program process purpose is
sustained activity goal(1.72). And inflected form identification(1.72) is the most effectively in main activity during
final session. This Study analyzed group counseling programs for teenager interpersonal relationships in aspect of
systematically, synthetically and objectively. By this study, it would provide basic data which help composition
and operation.
