This study was conducted to investigate the effect of group counseling program to positive psychology on
psychological well-being and self-efficacy of amotivational high school male students. We selected 12 participants
from the top 20 percent of male amotivational first-year high school student in Jeon-Ju city in Jeollabuk-do. 6
participants were assigned to the experiment group and 6 were assigned to the control group randomly. After
that, we assessed the standard of amotivation, psychological well-being, self-efficacy through a pre test, post test
and follow up test. Group counseling program, consists of 8 sessions, designed by the researcher for the purpose
of amotivation reduction was carried on the experiment group 2 times a week for 4 weeks. As a result, the
participants of the experimental group showed more decrease of amotivation and longer duration than comparison
group. Psychological well-being effects were decreased after group counseling program but were not lasted.
Self-efficiency of both simulation control groups showed no difference. Lastly, the meaning of this study and
limitation, and idea for further study was discussed.
