The purposes of the present study were to estimate the longitudinal changes in life satisfaction
of multicultura1 adolescents latant class and identify relevant factors having significant effects on
the latent classes. To address this goal, Multicultural Adollescents Panel Study(MAPS) data from
1st to 5th waves(4th-8th grade) were used. The data was analyzed using piecewise growth
modeling. As the results, the life satisfaction was increased from 4th grade to 6th grade, but
decreased from 7th grade to 8th grade. Also, by using piecewise growth mixture modeling
analysis, three distinct latent growth classes of life satisfaction were found. These classes were
named ‘high-level conversion group’, ‘intermediate-level decreasing group’ and ‘low-level
non-change group’. Moreover, multinominal logistic regression analysis indicated that the
individual, family, and school factors were significant predictors of the latent classes. Implication
of the study and recommendations for future reseach were discussed.
