자기교수(self-instruction)는 장애학생의 학업 기술, 기능적 생활 기술, 문제 행동 등을 교수하기 위해 활용되는 중재 기법 중의 하나다. 본 연구는 자기교수 훈련이 정신지체초등 학생의 수학 학습(정시의 시각 읽기, 달력에서 요일 읽기, 화폐 세기)에 미치는 효과를 살펴보는데 있다. 연구 대상은 정신지체초등학생 한 명이며, 중재는 특수학급에서 수학 교과 학습시간을 활용하여 약 두 달간 실시하였다. 연구 설계는 단일 대상 연구의 행동 간 중다 기초선설계 방법을 사용하였으며, 연구 결과 자기교수 훈련은 수학 학습 성취에 긍정적인 효과가 있었다. 이러한 결과는 수학 및 교과교육 관점에서 논의되었으며, 앞으로 정신지체초등학생의 수학 교수․학습을 위한 교육 프로그램을 구성하는 데 기초 자료로 활용될 수 있을 것이다.
Self-instruction is an effective intervention strategy, based on the cognitive- behavioral management approach, for addressing academic skills, functional skills, and behavioral problems in children with disabilities. The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of self-instruction on the functional mathematics(speaking the time, speaking day of the week and counting the money) of elementary students with intellectual disabilities. The participant of the study was one elementary students with disabilities. A multiple baseline design across behaviors was used to investigate the effectiveness of the intervention. The result of this study was as following. self-instruction improved the functional mathematics of elementary students with intellectual disabilities. The result of the study was discussed in the perspective of mathematics for children with disabilities, and can be used to plan and implement successful mathematics programs.
