본 연구는 청각장애 중학생의 영어교육 만족도와 개선요구를 분석하여 청각장애학교 영어교 육 개선을 위한 기초자료를 제공하는데 목적을 두고 수도권을 포함한 8개 청각장애 중학생을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였다. 연구문제는 첫째, 청각장애 학생의 영어교육에 대한 만족도 수준은 어떠한지, 둘째, 청각장애 학생과 영어교사의 의사소통 유형, 학생의 영어성적 수준에 따라 영어교육 만족도의 차이가 있는지, 셋째, 영어교육 개선에 대한 청각장애 학생의 요구 는 무엇인지였다. 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 청각장애 학생의 영어교육 만족도는 대 체로 낮다. 영어수업에 대한 만족도와 물리적 환경에 대한 만족도는 낮은 반면 영어교사에 대해서는 보통 이상 만족하고 있다 셋째， 청각장애학교 영어교육이 효과적으로 운영되기 위 해서는 수업방식의 개선, 교사의 영어실력 향상, 수준별 수업, 회화중심의 수업, 다양한 보조 자료 개발, 교과서나 교육과정 채택에 학생의 의견 반영, 시설 빚 기자재 확충 등의 개선을 요구하고 있다.
This study aims to analyze satisfactionon English education and needs of improvement and to provide basic information for improving English education. The subjects of the survey were eight middle school students with hearing impairment, including metropolitan area. The research questions are as follow. First, what the degree of satisfaction on English education of middle school students with hearing impairment is like? Second, Are there differences on the degree of satisfaction on English education in terms of communication types between English teachers and students with hearing impairment and English grades? Third, what is the needs of students with hearing impairment? The results of the study are as follow. First, the degree of satisfaction on English education of middle school students with hearing impairment is generally low. Second, the degree of satisfaction on English classes and physical environment is low, while the degree of satisfaction on English teachers is above average. For effective implementation on English education of schools for the hearing impairment, improvement of teaching methods, teachers' improvement in English, level-based English instruction, teaching focused on conversation, developing of a range of support materials, reflecting the opinions of students in the process of adopting textbook or curriculum, providing the schools with facilities and equipment are needed.
