2011년부터 적용될 2009개정교육과정은 음악이 미술과 하나의 교과군으로 묶이면서 집중이수제의 폭과 수업시수 20％증감의 확대, 선택교과로서 고등학교에서의 음악수업 등으로 입시위주의 교육이 강화되어 상대적으로 음악교과의 축소가 예상된다. 음악은 수업시수가 적은 교과목으로 입시과목은 아니지만 학생들의 전인적인 성장을 위하여 중요한 과목이다. 이러한 과목은 수업시수 20％증감에서 제외하여 수업시수를 고정하여 운용하고 집중이수제는 교과의 특성에 적합하게 적용해야 입시위주의 교육에만 함몰되지 않을 것이다. 음악교사는 그럼에도 불구하고 음악교육을 위한 음악교육전문프로그램으로 학교현장에서 음악교육의 전문성을 살리기 위한 꾸준한 노력과 연구가 필요하다.
In 2009 Revised national curriculum, which will be applied from 2011, the reduction of music subject is expected because of a strengthened education system focusing on college entrance exams which is caused by the expansion of an intensive course completion system and 20% increase or decrease of instructional hours, music class is an elective choice subject in high school while music is integrated with fine art as a subjects cluster. Although instructional hours per week of music are little and music is not a subject for the entrance exam, it is an important subject for students` holistic growth. Such as subject has to be managed by fixing instructional hours except for 20% increase or decrease. The intensive course completion system has to be applied suitably to trait of subject. So the Korean education would not be sunk into the education system that focuses only on college entrance exams. Nevertheless, it is essential for music teachers to do constant efforts and research for saving professionalism of music education in school site as a music education specialty program for music education.
