This research is conducted to find out that the effect of the mother\'s stroking pattern on children\'s self-esteem focused on the theory of the \'Transactional Analysis\'. In order to carry out this research, a survey was done, targeting 227 elementary school students from 4th to 6th grades in the city of Kimhae. The summery of the survey are the following.
Firstly, after examining the differences existing in mother\'s stroking patterns depending on variations in socio-demographic, it was recognized that lower th financial state of a family, more the negative stroke a child receive from his or her mothers. In addition, students from single parent family had more negative stroke than those from two parent families.
Secondly, there was a significant level of correlation between all the mother\'s stroking pattern and the children\'s self-esteem(p<.001). This means the more positively children perceived mother\'s stroking pattern and the lower negatively and no stroke they perceived from mothers, the more children tend to develop their self-esteem.
Thirdly, after examining the effects that mother\'s stroking pattern has on child\'s self-esteem, it was apparent that children\'s self-esteem was the result of mother\'s absolute positive stroke. In addition, the lower negative and verbal stroke children perceived seemed to have an effect on children\'s domestic and characteristic self-esteem.
