"In the shift of epistemology, the researchers questioned what we can learn from the life story of three women who have raised the children with disability. The learning from listening to their lives was presented three themes as the following: ‘embodied knowledge’, ‘resilience, the greatness of the life’, and ‘epistemology of gender’. The participants were not passive clients any more. They have expanded the epistemological standpoint and the horizons through their material life experiences. And they have lived as a subjective agent who can produce the knowledge to explain about themselves and embody these in themselves. It must be important task of social work practice and research to reconstruct ‘client’ as a subjective agent who can explain by themselves and live their own lives actively not as object to be explained or intervened. This study exemplifies of how the qualitative study is based on the shift of epistemology can contribute to it.
