본 연구는 부적응 행동 및 사회적 상호작용에서의 장애를 겪고 있는 8세 남자 자폐아동을 대상으로 통합예술치료 프로그램이 자폐아동의 부적응 행동측면과 사회적 상호작용 측면에 미치는 영향을 알아보기 위한 목적으로 이루어졌다. 그 결과는 첫째. 자폐아의 부적응 행동 중 회피 및 이탈행동은 2회기부터 감소하기 시작하여 16회기부터는 소멸하였고, 반걸음은 중반기인 11회기에서 완전 소멸하여 가장 높은 개선 효과를 보였다. 혼잣말은 초기에 6회의 부적응 행동이 나타났으나, 후반기 16회기부터는 1∼2회 정도로 감소하는 변화를 보여 개선의 효과가 있었으며 무의식적 시선 응시와 함묵의 부적응 행동은 초기 보다 2회 정도 감소하는 매우 미약한 변화가 있었다. 둘째, 사회적 상호작용의 변화는 지시 따르기에서 2회기부터 횟수가 증가하여 10회기부터는 급속으로 상승하는 가장 높은 상호작용 효과가 있었으며, 타인과의 신체접촉, 타인에 대한 관심, 미소 지음의 행동에서는 6, 7회기부터 점진적으로 향상되어 비교적 개선된 효과가 있었고, 눈 맞춤에서는 그 효과가 매우 미약하여 초기에 눈 맞춤 자체의 거부에서 점진적으로 훔쳐보는 듯 한 모습이 보이기 시작하면서 18회기부터는 2회 정도까지 자연스럽게 눈 마주침이 이루어지고 있어 차후 호전될 가능성이 보인다. 위의 결과를 보면 통합예술치료 프로그램은 자폐아의 부적응 행동 감소와 사회적 상호작용 향상에 효과가 있음을 알 수 있다. 또한 통합예술치료 프로그램은 우리 사회에서 발생빈도가 높음에도 불구하고 원인규명 및 치 료에 대한 방법 면에서 아직 명확한 강구책이 마련되고 있지 않아 많은 어려움을 안고 있는 자폐아들에게 적합한 프로그램 중 하나로 실행될 수 있으리라 기대한다.
