This thesis aimed at understaning the major problems of the deaf and their attitude toward counselling service. This study was conducted for the 187 female and male deaf over in their 20s, who resided in Deagu and Kyungpook area. The results were as follows. The first, according to the research for the major problems of the deaf, in the
case of the male deaf surveyed, they had personality problems and in the case of the female deaf surveyed, if they were single they had the same problems as male, but if they were married, they had some difficulties in nurturing and educating their children. The second, the methods for solving their major problems were conducted only through
having a conversation with their family and acquaintances or letting it be. The third, the family, relatives and sign language interpreters were the most helpful for solving their major problems. Lastly, the 87.2% deaf people needed the technical counsellor and association of counselling service.
