The purpose of this study was to examine the characteristics of each type by categorizing it based on the subjective perception of the art therapy experience for multicultural adolescents. This study, which applied the Q methodology, organized the Q population through semi-structured interviews and literature surveys for them and selected 33 Q sample statements. For 27 multicultural adolescents with art therapy experience, Q sample statements were placed in the order of importance in the Q sample distribution chart. As a result of the main factor analysis by the QUANL program, the art therapy experiences of multicultural adolescents were classified into four types. The first type was an activity oriented “Energy creation type,” the second type was an emotion-oriented “My heart expression type,” the third type was an experience oriented “Art media satisfaction type,” and the last type 4 appeared as passive centered “Passive participation type.” This study was meaningful that it served as basic data for promoting art therapy participation and qualitative improvement through understanding the recognition type and characteristics of their art therapy experience, although there were limitations in the study subject and region due to COVID-19. Based on these research results, the significance and limitations of this study were discussed.
