융합적 문제해결이 중요한 제4차 산업혁명 사회에서 미래 세대에게 필요한 역량 중 하나로의사소통역량이 강조되고 있다. 본 연구는 초기 청소년의 의사소통역량 강화를 위해 놀이 기반 교육 접근법인 LEGO Serious Play(LSP)를 적용한 프로그램을 개발하고, 효과성 검증 및 프로그램 평가를 포함한 다차원적 평가를 실시하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 초등학교 4 ~ 5학년을 대상으로 실험집단(16명)과통제집단(11명)을 구성하여 프로그램을 실시하였다. 두 집단을 대상으로 의사소통역량 사전⋅사후검사를 진행하였으며, 실험집단은 프로그램에 대한 양적⋅질적 평가도 실시하였다. 수집된 자료는Mann-Whitney U 검정, Wilcoxon 부호순위 검정, Kendall의 순위 상관분석 및 질적 분석을 하였다. 분석 결과, 실험집단의 의사소통역량 하위요인 중 ‘상호 이해 형성’에서 유의한 변화가 나타났다. 프로그램 평가를 통해 LSP가 초기 청소년의 흥미와 수준에 적합하며, 전통적 교수 방법과 달리 놀이로 인식된다는 점이 확인되었다. 본 연구는 LSP가 초기 청소년에게 의미 있는 학습 경험을 제공하고, 미래 역량강화를 위한 교육적 접근으로 활용될 수 있음을 시사한다는 점에서 의의가 있다.
In the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, where convergent problem-solving is crucial, communication competence is highlighted as one of the essential competences for future generations. This study aims to develop a LEGO Serious Play(LSP) based program, a play-oriented educational approach, that enhances communication competence in early adolescents, and to conduct a multidimensional evaluation encompassing both efficacy and program evaluation. The experimental group consisted of 16 elementary school students (4th and 5th graders), and the control group consisted of 11 students. Pre- and post-tests on communication competence were conducted for both groups, and the experimental group also participated in both quantitative and qualitative evaluations of the program. Data were analyzed using the Mann-Whitney U test, Wilcoxon signed-rank test, Kendall's rank correlation analysis, and qualitative analysis. The results revealed a significant improvement in the ‘developing shared understanding’ sub-factor of communication competence within the experimental group. Evaluation of the program confirmed that the LSP approach was engaging and appropriate for early adolescents, and was perceived as play rather than traditional learning methods. This study is meaningful in that it demonstrates LSP as a valuable educational method that can provide early adolescents with meaningful learning experiences and serve as an approach for developing future competencies.
