본 연구는 취약가족 아동의 복지와 발달을 향상시키기 위한 사회적 서비스 제공을 위한 것이다. 본 연구에서 정의한 취약가족은 한부모, 다문화, 기초수급가족을 말한다. 본 연구의 목적은 취약가 족과 비취약가족 아동의 인지⋅언어발달을 비교 분석하는데 있다. 연구대상은 경상북도내의 3-5세 아동 872명이며, 이들 아동을 지도하는 보육교사가 아동의 인지 및 언어발달수준에 대한 질문지를 작성하였다. 자료분석은 집단 간 차이를 분석하기 위해 SPSS ver. 12.0를 이용하였다. 연구결과, 취약가족 아동의 발달수준은 비취약가족 아동의 발달수준에 비해 낮은 것으로 나타났 다. 본 연구의 결과를 통하여 서로 다른 계층의 아동 간에 나타나는 인지‧언어발달의 차이를 극복 할 수 있는 방법 및 어떤 사회적 지원이 제공되어야 하는지를 제안하였다.
The purpose of this study is to investigate how these children develop cognition and language level by comparing children\'s development from vulnerable families and Non-vulnerable Family. ‘Children from vulnerable families’ is defined as children who have single parent, multi-cultural family, and live in absolute poverty. The subjects are 872 which consist of three to five year old children who attend child day care in Gyeongbuk Province. Children\'s development was observed and assessed by classroom teachers, using the questionnaire which researcher created. The questionnaire consists of children\'s items: cognitive and language development level. Statistical Package of Social Science was implemented to analyze the answers from the questionnaire and to compare four groups of the children\'s specific development. The results of the study indicates that vulnerable children\'s development is lower than non-vulnerable children in most domains. The study suggests that more investigation on what types of the social services and how the services would fill the developmental gaps among children who are from different social status should be provided.
