본 연구는 특수학급이 설치된 초등학교에서 특수아동을 담당하고 있는 통합학급 교사들의 정신지 체인에 대한 인식유형을 연구하여 통합학급 교사 교육의 기초자료를 마련하기 위해 실시되었다. 통 합학급 교사들의 정신지체인에 대한 인식유형은 동등-교육형과 동등-평가형 2가지로 나타났다. 동등-교육형은 정신지체인이 동등한 인권을 가지며, 사랑받고 싶어하는 존재이며, 교육 효과를 가져올 수있기 때문에 교육 투자의 가치가 있다는 인식을 가지고 있었다. 동등-평가형은 동등한 인권, 사랑받고 싶어하는 존재라는 것에는 동등-교육형과 인식을 같이 하지만, 정신지체인이 가진 능력의 제한성을 객관적으로 평가하여 적절한 도움을 주려는 인식을 내포하고 있었다. 두 유형의 상관관계는 67로 두 인식유형간에 유사성이 다소 높게 나타났으며, 두 가지 인식유형 모두 긍정적이었으며 교육에 대한 높은 관심을 보였다.
This study was designed to find the characteristics and patterns of general education te acher in inclusive elementary classroom towards persons with mental retardation. P-sampling has been drawn to 60 samples(60 general education teachers). The characteristics of general education teachers towards persons with mental retardation w ere analyzed based on typical array and extreme comments of subjects. The results revealed that general education teachers are of two types about persons with me ntal retardation. The two types of general education teachers were named as follows; 1. The first type agreed about the rights and the educational possibility towards mentally re tarded persons; 2. The second type agree about the equal rights and the objective assessment for the gener al possibility towards mentally retarded persons. Generally, general education teachers were positive towards persons with mental retardatio n. The study can be useful to develop efficient basic material for improvement of understandi ng and attitude toward the persons with mental retardation and to prepare efficient basic mate rial for study and training of general education teachers.
