In this study, the educational purpose, the curriculum, and the practical instruction at Sungkyunkwan in the Former Term of the chosun Dynasty were discussed in detail. The educational purposes of Sungkyunkwan were to cultivate the men of being good at the four Books(四書) and five Classics(王經). The good men is, the men of being capable of current affairs, finally the men of excellent in the literature. The curriculums were consisted of the four Books and five Classics, Sajanghak(詞章學 : literature), and History and so on. Specailly the curriculum of the four Books and five Classics had been consisted of the Ku-jae(九齋), but it was not put in practical. The four Books and five Classics centered curriculum at Sungkyunkwan was influeuced by many variables- - the academic position of Taesasung(大司成), the position of the King, the test methods of the Civil Exam.(科學), the social climate, the climate of students at Sungkyunkwan and so on. The periods that had been put in practical in the four Books and five Classics were from the first year of Tae-jo(太祖) to the seventh year of Tae-jong(太宗), from the seventeenth year of Tae-jong to the thirty-first year of Se-jong(世宗), from the first year of Sung-jong(成宗) to fifth year of him, from the thirteenth year of Sung-jong to the twentieth year of him, from the third year of Jung-jong(中宗) to the sixth year of him, from the twelfth year of Jung-jong to the fourteenth year of him.
