a significant increase in total W duration and decreases in total S and P duration and delta activity. Memantine showed increases in sleep latency and motor activity. Changes of S and P duration in memantine were attributed from changes of mean episode duration. Galantamine had little effect on sleep architecture. From these results, it is showed that galantamine may be an anti-dementia drug that does not cause sleep disturbances and memantine may be a drug that causes severe sleep disturbance. -

splenocytes to determine if treated cells could still undergo clonal expansion. In flow cytometric analysis, Ղ-glucan induced increased levels of the activation marker CD25 on the surface of splenocytes and Ղ-glucan-treated splenocytes showed higher proliferation rates in response to IL-2 treatment. This study demonstrates that Ղ-glucan can enhance the survival of splenocytes and provides valuable information to broaden the use of Ղ-glucan in research fields. -

of LTP in 5-week-old rats, it reinstated the induction of N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor (NMDA)-dependent LTP in 8- and 10-week-old rats. Moreover, the selective SSRI citalopram reinstated LTP. The potentiating effect of 5-HT at 8 weeks of age was mediated by the activation of 5-HT2 receptors, but not by the activation of either 5-HT1A or 5-HT3 receptors. These results suggested that the effect of 5-HT on the induction of LTP switches from inhibitory in young rats to facilitatory in adult rats. -

Based on the solutions of these equations and potassium channel blocker experiments, we found that, as temperature increases, the maximum value of the potassium channel relaxation time constant, Քn(t) increases, but the maximum value of the probabilities of openings for activation of the potassium channels, n(t) decreases. Accordingly, the voltage-dependent potassium current is likely to play a leading role in the temperature-dependent changes in the firing patterns in Aplysia neurons. -

with 15 min, left ventricles (LV) showed higher release of LDH comparing with right ventricles (RV). Adding KATP blocker glibenclamide (10ՌM) prior to a hypoxic period of 60 min, hypoxic preconditioning effect of RV was more abolished than LV. With in situ hybridization, the optical density of OcKir6.2 was higher in RV. Therefore, we suggest that different KATP expression between LV and RV is responsible for the different response to hypoxia and hypoxic preconditioning of rabbit hearts.
