대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2011, 제 12권 제 3호 9 257-265 (9 pages)
Effect of sodium nitroprusside (SNP), a nitric oxide (NO) donor, on in vitro survival, growth, steroidogenesis, and apoptosis of buffalo preantral follicles (PFs) was investigated. PFs (200∼250 mm) were isolated by micro-dissection and cultured in 0 (control), 10, 10, 10, and 10 M SNP. To examine the reversible effect of SNP, PFs were cultured with 10 M SNP + 1 mM N-nitro-L-arginine methyl ester (L-NAME) or 1.0 mg hemoglobin (Hb). The results showed that greater concentrations of SNP (10,... -
Cytotoxicity of gamma-ray in rat immature hippocampal neurons
Miyoung Yang, Myoung-Sub Song, Sung-Ho Kim, Jong-Choon Kim, Joong-Sun Kim, Taekyun Shin, Changjong Moon* 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 5 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2011, 제 12권 제 3호 1 203-207 (5 pages)
This in vitro study evaluated the detrimental effect of acute gamma (g)-irradiation on rat immature hippocampal neurons. Rat immature hippocampal neurons (0.5 day in vitro) were irradiated with 0∼4 Gy g-rays. Cytotoxicity was analyzed using a lactate dehydrogenase release assay at 24 h after g-irradiation. Radiation-induced cytotoxicity in immature hippocampal neurons increased in a dose- dependent manner. Pre-treatments of pro-apoptotic caspase inhibitors and anti-oxidative substances... -
Dendrotoxin-ĸ suppresses tumor growth induced by human lung adenocarcinoma A549 cells in nude mice

regulator of membrane potential and neuronal excitability. Recently, accumulated evidence has indicated that several Kv channel subtypes contribute to the control of cell proliferation in various types of cells and are worth noting as potential emerging molecular targets of cancer therapy. In the present study, we investigated the effects of the Kv1.1-specific blocker, dendrotoxin-ĸ (DTX-ĸ), on tumor formation induced by the human lung adenocarcinoma cell line A549 in a xenograft model. Kv1.1... -
Differential patterns of nestin and glial fibrillary acidic protein expression in mouse hippocampus during postnatal development

in the marginal cells of the hippocampus at PND 1, but immunoreactivity revealed satellite, radial, or ramified shapes of the cells from PND 6-48. This study demonstrates that the opposing pattern of nestin and GFAP expressions in mouse hippocampus during postnatal development occur in the early development stage (PND 1-18), suggesting that the opposing change of nestin and GFAP in early postnatal development is important for neural differentiation and positioning in the mouse hippocampus. -

the neuronal differentiation study, the cMSCs expressed the neuronal markers glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP), neuronal class III b tubulin (Tuj-1), neurofilament M (NF160) in the basal culture media. After neuronal differentiation, the cMSCs expressed the neuronal markers Nestin, GFAP, Tuj-1, microtubule- associated protein 2, NF160. In the osteogenic & chondrogenic differentiation studies, cMSCs were stained with alizarin red and toluidine blue staining, respectively. With osteogenic... -
Immunohistochemical identification and quantitative analysis of cytoplasmic Cu/Zn superoxide dismutase in mouse organogenesis

대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2008, 제 9권 제 3호 2 233-240 (8 pages)
Cytoplasmic Cu/Zn superoxide dismutase (SOD1) is an antioxidant enzyme that converts superoxide to hydrogen peroxide in cells. Its spatial distribution matches that of superoxide production, allowing it to protect cells from oxidative stress. SOD1 deficiencies result in embryonic lethality and a wide range of pathologies in mice, but little is known about normal SOD1 protein expression in developing embryos. In this study, the expression pattern of SOD1 was investigated in post-implantation... -
Enhanced tyrosine hydroxylase expression in PC12 cells co-cultured with feline mesenchymal stem cells
Guang-Zhen Jin, Xi-Jun Yin, Xian-Feng Yu, Su-Jin Cho, Hyo-Sang Lee, Hyo-Jong Lee, Il-Keun Kong* 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 6 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2007, 제 8권 제 4호 10 377-382 (6 pages)
Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) secrete a variety of neuroregulatory molecules, such as nerve growth factor, brain-derived neurotrophic factor, and glial cell-derived neurotrophic factor, which upregulate tyrosine hydroxylase (TH) gene expression in PC12 cells. Enhancing TH gene expression is a critical step for treatment of Parkinson's disease (PD). The objective of this study was to assess the effects of co-culturing PC12 cells with MSCs from feline bone marrow on TH protein expression. We... -

This study was to determine the effects of allogenic umbilical cord blood (UCB)-derived mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) and recombinant methionyl human granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (rmhGCSF) on a canine spinal cord injury model after balloon compression at the first lumbar vertebra. Twenty-five adult mongrel dogs were assigned to five groups according to treatment after a spinal cord injury: no treatment (CN); saline treatment (CP); rmhGCSF treatment (G); UCB-MSCs treatment (UCB-MSC);... -

대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2007, 제 8권 제 3호 1 209-212 (4 pages)
To examine the involvement of phospholipase D (PLD) isozymes in postnatal testis development, the expression of PLD1 and PLD2 was examined in the mouse testis at postnatal weeks 1, 2, 4, and 8 using Western blot analysis and immunohistochemistry. The expression of both PLD1 and PLD2 increased gradually with development from postnatal week 1 to 8. Immunohistochemically, PLD immunoreactivity was detected in some germ cells in the testis and interstitial Leydig cells at postnatal week 1. PLD was... -

cell viability and differentiation, and increase of apoptotic cell death) of undifferentiated PC12 cells and cortical neuronal cells isolated from gestation 18 day rat embryos in a concentration-dependent manner (more than 50 μM). The ER antagonists, ICI 182,780, and tamoxifen, did not block these effects. The cell vulnerability against BPA was not significantly different in the PC12 cells overexpressing ER-α and ER-β compared with PC12 cells expressing vector alone. In addition, there was no...
