Canine biphasic synovial sarcoma: case report and immunohistochemical characterization
Panayiotis Loukopoulos, Hock Gan Heng, Habibah Arshad 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 8 Pages
13 173-180 (8 pages)
The clinical, radiological and pathologic features of a biphasic synovial sarcoma in the left elbow joint of a two-year-old male Rottweiler are presented. The tumor showed positive immunoreactivity for vimentin, Epithelial Membrane Antigen (EMA), p53 and PCNA, while it was negative for the cytokeratin used, S-100, Rb and p21. Immunohistochemistry for EMA allowed the identification of epithelioid components of synovial sarcoma, and may, therefore, contribute in establishing a diagnosis of... -
Effects of cyclosporin A treatment on the pathogenesis of avian leukosis virus subgroup J infection in broiler chickens with Marek’s disease virus exposure
Yongbaek Kim, Thomas P. Brown, Mary J. Pantin-Jackwood 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 11 Pages
8 245-255 (11 pages)
In this study, we investigated the effects of T-cell suppression on the pathogenesis of subgroup J avian leukosis virus (ALV-J). Chickens were treated with cyclosporin A (CSP) 50 mg/Kg body weight or a corresponding volume of olive oil per every three days after hatching until the end of experiment. Some of the chickens from each treatment group were infected with an isolate of ALV-J, ADOL-7501, at 2 weeks of age. The effects of viral infection were compared to uninfected birds in same treatment... -
Effects of Corticosteroid and Electroacupuncture on Experimental Spinal Cord Injury in Dogs
jung-whan Yang, Seong-mok Jeong, Kang-moon Seo, Tchi-chou Nam 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 5 Pages
15 97-101 (5 pages)
The aim of this study is to investigate the effects of electroacupuncture, corticosteroid, and combination of two treatments on ambulatory paresis due to spinal cord injury in dogs by comparing therapeutic effects of electroacupuncture and corticosteroid. Spinal cord injury was induced in twenty healthy dogs (2.5-7 kg and 2-4 years) by foreign body insertion which compressed about 25% of spinal cord. There was no conscious proprioception, no extensor postural thrust, and ambulatory. Dogs were... -
Maxillary Ameloblastoma Case of a Dog
Aydın Gurel, Gulbin .ennazli, Kur.at Ozer, Ahmet Gulcubuk 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 4 Pages
12 79-82 (4 pages)
of a 10 year-old, male, German shepherd, was described on the clinical and morphological features. The mass with the dimensions of 5 x 2.5 cm was removed totally by maxillectomy and examined by radiography, magnetic resonance (MR) and biopsy. The tumor was histopathologically classified ameloblastoma of follicular type and in some fields showed acanthotic form. The invasiveness of the tumor was also observed to be high. This report is the first case of maxillary ameloblastoma in dogs in Turkey. -
Functional Role of Serine Residues of Transmembrane Dopamin VII in Signal Transduction of CB2 Cannabinoid Receptor
Man-Hee Rhee 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 7 Pages
7 185-191 (7 pages)
Using site-directed mutagenesis technique, I have replaced serine 285 and serine 292 with the alanine, and assessed the binding of agonist and signaling such as the inhibition of adenylyl cyclase activity. I have found that serine 292 has an important role in the signal transduction of cannabinoid agonists, HU-210 and CP55940, but not in that of aminoalkylindoles derivatives WIN55,212-2. All mutants express well in protein level determined by western blot using monoclonal antibody HA 11 as... -
Biological Rhythm in Livestock
Piccione Giuseppe and Caola Giovanni 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 13 Pages
1 145-157 (13 pages)
The animal time structure is a basic fact of life, no matter if one wants to study it or not. The time-dependent, mostly rhythmic, and thus to a certain degree predictable, variations of biochemical and physiological functions and of sensitivity and resistance to many environmental agents are often quite large and offer not only new insight into animal physiology and pathology but also diagnostic possibilities and therapeutic advantages. Chronobiology, chronophysiology and its subspecialities,... -
Dose-Incidence Relationships on the Prenatal Effects of Gamma-Radiation in Mice
Sung Ho Kim, Jong Hwan Lee, Yun Sil Lee, Cha Soo Lee, Tae Hwan Kim, Se Ra Kim, Dae Won Bang, Heon Oh 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 5 Pages
2 7-11 (5 pages)
The objective of this investigation was to evaluate dose-incidence relationships on the prenatal effects of gamma-radiation. Pregnant ICR mice were exposed on day 11.5 after conception, coincident with the most sensitive stage for the induction of major congenital malformations, with 0.5-4.0 Gy of gamma- radiations. The animals were sacrificed on day 18 of gestation and the fetuses were examined for mortality, growth retardation, change in head size and any other morphological abnormalities.... -
Prophylactic effect of plaster and cataplasm contained ketoprofen in rats with adjuvant arthritis
Seong-Soo Kang, Seok-Hwa Choi 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 6 Pages
11 65-70 (6 pages)
This study demonstrates that prophylactic effect of plaster and cataplasm contained ketoprofen in adjuvant arthritis therapy by X-ray. Adjuvant arthritis was induced by a single injection of Freund's complete adjuvant. Mature female Sprague-Dawley rats were designated to 3 groups such as nontreated control, plaster-treated (PT) and cataplasm-treated (CT), each of which was composed of ten animals. The PT and the CT groups showed reduced primary paw swelling, but secondary paw swelling was not... -

Klaus-Dieter Budras, Klaus Scheibe, Bianca Patan, Wolf J. Streich, Kabsu Kim 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 7 Pages
1 1-7 (7 pages)
aimed at two goals: 1. To reduce endotoxin production and acidosis in the horses by reducing the ingestion of car-bohydrate rich food. 2. To reduce the mares level of activ-ity and to prevent tearing of the suspensory apparatus of the coffin bone. To achieve these two goals it was decided to remove the three laminitic mares from the rich pasture in the main part of the semireserve and to confine them onto the poorer pasture of the small separately fenced area. All three affected mares had fully...
