Graphene accelerates osteoblast attachment and biomineralization
Jia Ren, Xiaogang Zhang, Yao Chen 한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 6 Pages
한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 2017, Vol.22 5 42-47 (6 pages)
In this paper, the in vitro biocompatibility of graphene film (GF) with osteoblasts was evaluated through cell adhesion, viability, alkaline phosphatase activity, F-actin and vinculin expressions, versus graphite paper as a reference material. The results showed that MG-63 cells exhibited stronger cell adhesion, better proliferation and viability on GF, and osteoblasts cultured on GF exhibited vinculin expression throughout the cell body. The rougher and wrinkled surface morphology, higher... -
EMI shielding effectiveness and mechanical properties of MWCNTs-reinforced biodegradable epoxy matrix composites
Yoon-Ji Yim, Dong Chul Chung, Soo-Jin Park 한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 6 Pages

(phr). This can likely be attributed to the entanglement of MWCNTs with each other in the B-epoxy due to the presence of an excess amount of MWCNTs. The highest EMI-SE obtained was ~16 dB for the MWCNTs/B-epoxy composites with a MWCNT content of 13 phr at 1.4 GHz. The composites (13 phr) exhibited the minimum EMI-SE (90%) when used as shielding materials at 1.4 GHz. The EMI-SE of the MWCNTs/B-epoxy also increased with an increase in the MWCNT content, which is a key factor affecting the EMI-SE. -
Thermo-electrical properties of randomly oriented carbon/carbon composite
Thakur Sudesh Kumar Raunija, N. Supriya 한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 11 Pages
한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 2017, Vol.22 3 25-35 (11 pages)
The aim of the work was to investigate the thermo-electrical properties of low cost and rapidly produced randomly oriented carbon/carbon (C/C) composite. The composite body was fabricated by combining the high-pressure hot-pressing (HP) method with the lowpressure impregnation thermosetting carbonization (ITC) method. After the ITC method step selected samples were graphitized at 3000°C. Detailed characterization of the samples’ physical properties and thermal properties, including thermal... -
Kinetic and multi-parameter isotherm studies of picric acid removal from aqueous solutions by carboxylated multi-walled carbon nanotubes in the presence and absence of ultrasound
Soheila Gholitabar, Hasan Tahermansouri 한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 11 Pages
한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 2017, Vol.22 2 14-24 (11 pages)
Carboxylated multi-wall carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs-COOH) have been used as efficient adsorbents for the removal of picric acid from aqueous solutions under stirring and ultrasound conditions. Batch experiments were conducted to study the influence of the different parameters such as pH, amount of adsorbents, contact time and concentration of picric acid on the adsorption process. The kinetic data were fitted with pseudo-first order, pseudo-secondorder, Elovich and intra-particle diffusion models.... -
The effects of carbon coating onto graphite filler on the structure and properties of carbon foams
Ji-Hyun Kim, Do Young Kim, Young-Seak Lee 한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 5 Pages
한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 2017, Vol.21 16 111-115 (5 pages)
the mechanical properties of metal-based heat sink materials are difficult to control at temperatures over 550°C [2,3]. Thus, CFms are actively investigated as heat sink materials because of their good properties, such as high thermal stability, high thermal/electrical conductivity, low density, high porosity and high specific surface area [4,5]. CFms are suitable materials for applications in phase-change materials, such as in latent heat thermal energy storage and lithium-ion batteries [6-9]. -
Removal of chromium from tannery wastewater by electrosorption on carbon prepared from peach stones: effect of applied potential
Mounir Ziati, Fariza Khemmari, Mohamed Kecir, Sabir Hazourli 한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 5 Pages
한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 2017, Vol.21 10 81-85 (5 pages)
The objective of this study is the removal of chromium from tannery wastewater by electrosorption on carbon prepared from lignocellulosic natural residue "peach stones' thermally treated. The followed steps for obtaining coal in chronological order were: cleaning, drying, crushing and finally its carbonization at 900°C. The characterization of the carbon material resulted in properties comparable to those of many coals industrially manufactured. The study of the dynamic adsorption of chromium... -
Synthesize multi-walled carbon nanotubes via catalytic chemical vapour deposition method on Fe-Ni bimetallic catalyst supported on kaolin
Aliyu A, Abdulkareem AS, Kovo AS, Abubakre OK, Tijani JO, Kariim I 한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 18 Pages
한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 2017, Vol.21 5 33-50 (18 pages)
In this study, Fe-Ni bimetallic catalyst supported on kaolin is prepared by a wet impregnation method. The effects of mass of kaolin support, pre-calcination time, pre-calcination temperature and stirring speed on catalyst yields are examined. Then, the optimal supported Fe-Ni catalyst is utilised to produce multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) using catalytic chemical vapour deposition (CCVD) method. The catalysts and MWCNTs prepared using the optimal conditions are characterized using high... -

the bacterial enrichment method [6-8]. On the other hand, the interaction between microorganism and carbon materials is still unknown, which is the main factor limiting further improvement of the performance of the MES process. For example, insufficient information about microbe-carbon interactions is delaying the advance of the process significantly when the input potential is 410 mV vs standard hydrogen electrode (SHE), which is the theoretical minimum potential for hydrogen production [9]. -
Effects of carbon additives on heat-transfer and mechanical properties of high early strength cement mortar
Dae-Geun Lee, Kyung Hoon Kim, Hyeong Gi Kim, Young-Seak Lee 한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 4 Pages
한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 2016, Vol.20 11 72-75 (4 pages)
The repair of mortar-based structures is critically important because mortar-based structures such as buildings, bridges, tunnels, highway and roads are inevitably degraded by deterioration or damage. To save expense during construction and to avoid traffic congestion during repair work, it is very important to reduce construction time as much as possible. In order to reduce construction time, therefore, the setting time of mortars has to be shortened. The mortars which have short setting times... -
Effects of coal tar pitch addition on the wear behavior of carbon/carbon composites
Young Chan Jung, Duk Soo Kang, Kyong Yop Rhee, Soo Jin Park, David Hui 한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 4 Pages
한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 2016, Vol.20 9 62-65 (4 pages)
Carbon/carbon (C/C) composites are acknowledged as high performance materials because of their good mechanical properties such as wear resistance, even at the higher temperature, due to their low thermal expansion [1-5]. Their hardness and light weight in addition to their superior mechanical properties at high temperature make C/C composites the best material to make brakes for aircrafts and other high weight vehicles. Accordingly, a number of studies have been conducted on the performance of...
