Chung-Ho Lee, Wan-Hee Kim, Ji-Hey Lim, Min-Soo Kang, Dae-Yong Kim and Oh-Kyeong Kweon 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 7 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2004, 제 5권 제 1호 9 63-69 (7 pages)
We concentrated ourselves to evaluate the prognostic significance of the p53 gene mutations, its protein expression and MIB-1 index as a proliferative marker in canine mammary tumors. In the present study, a total of 20 cases were examined, among which there were 5 malignant mixed tumors, 4 mammary gland adenocarcinomas, 1 papillary adenocarcinoma, 8 benign mixed tumors and 2 mammary gland adenomas. Positive immunostaining for p53 with PAb240 antibody was found in 2 benign (20%) and 3 malignant... -
Characterization of Antigenic Sites on the Rinderpest Virus N Protein Using Monoclonal Antibodies
Kang-seuk Choi, Jin-ju Nah, Young-joon Ko, Cheong-up Choi, Jae-hong Kim, Shien-young Kang, Yi-seok Joo 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 9 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2003, 제 4권 제 1호 9 57-65 (9 pages)
The N protein of the rinderpest virus (RPV) was analyzed topologically and antigenically by using anti-N monoclonal antibodies (Mabs). Ten Mabs were raised against the N protein of the RPV. At least six non-overlapping antigenic sites (sites A-F) were delineated by competitive binding assays using biotinylated Mabs. Of them 5 sites (A, C, D, E and F) on the N protein were recognized by RPV-specific Mabs in ELISA and IFA while site B was recognized by Mabs reacting with both RPV and PPRV. Non-... -
Estimation of Paratuberculosis Prevalence in Dairy Cattle in a Province of Korea using an Enzyme-linked Immunosorbent Assay: Application of Bayesian Approach
Son-il Pak, Doo Kim, Mo Salman 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 6 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2003, 제 4권 제 1호 8 51-56 (6 pages)
To draw inferences about the sensitivity and specificity of the newly developed ELISA test for bovine paratuberculosis (PTB) diagnosis and posterior distribution on the prevalence of PTB in a province of Korea, we applied Bayesian approach with Gibbs sampler to the data extracted from the prevalence study in 1999. The data were from a single test results without a designated gold test. The prevalence estimates for PTB in study population ranged 3.2-5.3% for conservative and 6.7-7.1% for liberal,... -
Mac-1-mediated Uptake and Killing of Bordetella bronchiseptica by Porcine Alveolar Macrophages
Jong-keuk Lee, Lawrence B. Schook, Mark S. Rutherford 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 9 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2003, 제 4권 제 1호 7 41-49 (9 pages)
The role of Mac-1 as a receptor for Bordetella bronchiseptica infection of alveolar macrophages (AMphi) was examined using 6 strains (2 ATCC and 4 pathogenic field isolates) to assess B. bronchiseptica binding, uptake and replication in primary porcine AMphi. All B. bronchiseptica strains were rapidly killed by porcine serum in a dose- and time-dependent manner. However, heat-inactivated porcine serum (HIS) did not demonstrate any bacterial-killing activity, suggesting that complement may have a... -
Topology of Scavenger Receptor Class B Type I (SR-BI) on Brush Border Membrane
Chang-Hoon Han and Mun-Han Lee 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 8 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2002, 제 3권 제 4호 3 265-272 (8 pages)
Both hydropathy plot and in vitro translation results predict the topology of SR-BI; the receptor is an integral membrane protein of 509 amino acids, consisting of a short cytoplasmic N-terminus of 9 amino acids followed by a first transmembrane domain of 22 amino acids, the extracellular domain of 408 amino acids, the second transmembrane domain of 22 amino acids, and the cytoplasmic C-terminus of 47 amino acids. The immunoblot of rBBMV in the presence or absence of pAb589 peptide antigen (the... -
SR144528 as Inverse Agonist of CB2 Cannabinoid Receptor
Man-Hee Rhee and Sang-Keun Kim 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 6 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2002, 제 3권 제 3호 6 179-184 (6 pages)
It is now well established that several G protein- coupled receptors can signal without agonist stimulation (constitutive receptors). Inverse agonists have been shown to inhibit the activity of such constitutive G protein-coupled receptor signaling. Agonist activation of the G(i/o)-coupled peripheral cannabinoid receptor CB2 normally inhibits adenylyl cyclase type V and stimulates adenylyl cyclase type II. Using transfected COS cells, we show here that application of SR144528, an inverse agonist... -
Expression of Angiostatin Using DNA - Based Semliki Forest Virus Replicon
Hyun Soo Kim, Kwang Soon Shin, Jong Soo Lee, Young Ki Choi, Chul Joong Kim, Yong Soo Choi 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 5 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2002, 제 3권 제 1호 7 41-45 (5 pages)
In this study, we constructed the SFV-derived DNA vector by employing the cytomegalovirus immediate early enhancer/ promoter (CMV). This vector makes it possible to transfect the cells with DNA without the in vitro transcription process. The C-myc epitope and polyhistidine residue sequences were placed in downstream of the angiostatin gene to make it eligible to detect the expressed protein. The murine Ig k-chain V-J2-C signal sequence was placed in upstream to secrete the expressed protein from... -
Genetic characterization of porcine circovirus - 2 field isolates from PMWS pigs
Jin H. Kim, Young S. Lyoo 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 9 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2002, 제 3권 제 1호 6 31-39 (9 pages)
result indicates that although the genome of PCV-2 is relatively stable in general, minor genetic variations exist among PCV-2 isolates from the different geographic locations. These differences of viral genome might have an important implication for genetic characteristics of PCV-2 infection. Three major immunorelevant epitopes of capsid protein showed variations in amino acid sequences. Also, the variance of amino acid sequence in antigenic epitope existed between two Korean PCV-2 isolates. -
The use of crossreactive monoclonal antibodies to characterize the immune system of the water buffalo (Bubalus bubalis)
W. C. Davis, A. M. Khalid, M. J. Hamilton, J. S. Ahn, Y. H. Park, G. H. Cantor 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 7 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2001, 제 2권 제 2호 6 103-109 (7 pages)
One of the major difficulties in studying the mechanisms of host defense in economically important species indigenous to Asia and the Middle East is the lack of monoclonal antibody (mAb) reagents that define the immune systems of species other than cattle, goats, sheep, and pigs. One strategy that could obviate this problem at minimal cost is to identify existing mAbs that recognize conserved epitopes on orthologous major histocompatibility complex (MHC) and leukocyte differentiation molecules.... -
Melatonin ameliorates autoimmune encephalomyelitis through suppression of intercellular adhesion molecule-1
JongChul Kang, Meejung Ahn, Yong-Sik Kim, Changjong Moon, Yongduk Lee, Myung-Bok Wie, Young-jae Lee and Taekyun Shin 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 5 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2001, 제 2권 제 2호 3 85-89 (5 pages)
Melatonin (N-acetyl-5-methoxytryptamine), a pineal neurohormone, is a hydroxyl radical scavenger and antioxidant, and plays an important role in the immune system. We studied the effect of exogenous melatonin on the pathogenesis of experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis (EAE). EAE was induced in Lewis rats by immunization with rat spinal cord homogenates. Subsequent oral administration of melatonin at 5 mg/kg significantly reduced the clinical severity of EAE paralysis compared with...
