Eung-Goo Lee, Jae-Hoon Kim, Yong-Seung Shin, Gee-Wook Shin, Yong-Hwan Kim, Gon-Sup Kim, Dae-Yong Kim, Tae-Sung Jung, Myung-Deuk 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 7 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2004, 제 5권 제 2호 8 139-145 (7 pages)
Identification of expressed protein profiles and antigenic determination are some of the most challenging aspects of proteomics. Two-dimensional gel electrophoresis (2-DE) combined with immunoblot analysis were employed to study the N. caninum proteome. Protein sample preparation was carried out by first conducting sonication, followed by adding lysis buffer containing 7M urea plus 2M thiourea to the purified tachyzoites in order to complete disruption. A total of 335 differentially expressed... -

Dong Kun Yang, Byoung Han Kim, Chang Hee Kweon, Jun Hun Kwon, Seong In Lim, Hong Ryul Han 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 6 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2004, 제 5권 제 2호 6 125-130 (6 pages)
A virus strain, showing cytopathic effect in Vero cell, was isolated from plasma of a fattening pig in Gyeonggi province, Korea in October 1999. The evaluation of physicochemical/biological properties of the isolate showed that the virus, KV1899, inoculated suckling mouse showed paralysis and died within 7 days post-inoculation, the mouse brain suspension had hemagglutinating activity with goose RBC. Pathogenicity of isolate was carried out by intracranial and intraperitoneal inoculation of 3-4... -
Frequencies of Micronuclei in Peripheral Lymphocytes in Korean Populations after Chronic Low-dose Radiation Exposure
Mi-Young An and Tae-Hwan Kim 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 6 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2002, 제 3권 제 3호 11 213-218 (6 pages)
The purpose of this study was to estimate predictive markers of intrinsic radiosensitivity in individuals who were exposed to occupational or environmental radiation. Throughout this process, the actual biohazard risks and base-line chromosome damage were evaluated in human population. Further studies were carried out to provide evidence for the existence of individual variations in age-dependent responses through micronuclei (MN) assay. Spontaneous frequencies not only vary greatly between... -
Seroprevalence of Antibody to Procine Reproductive and Respiratory Syndrome Virus in Diagnostic Submissions
Su-Mi Kim, Tae-Uk Han, Shien-Young Kang, Kwang-Soon Shin, Chul-Joong Kim, Jong-Taik Kim and Hyun-Soo Kim 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 3 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2002, 제 3권 제 3호 2 159-161 (3 pages)
During the period from January to December of 2001, a total of 3,391 swine sera were submitted to our laboratory from 256 farms for the diagnosis of porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome (PRRS). The antibody to porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus (PRRSV) was tested by the indirect immunofluorescent antibody (IFA) test. Of the 256 farms tested, 230 farms (89.8%) were positive for the PRRSV antibody. The overall seroprevalence of the PRRSV antibody was 52.1% (1765/3391).... -
Localization of Porcine Reproductive and Respiratory Syndrome Virus Infection in Boars by In Situ Riboprobe Hybridization
Jin-Ho Shin and Thomas W. Molitor 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 10 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2002, 제 3권 제 2호 5 87-96 (10 pages)
The capability of porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus (PRRSV) to be shed in semen for extended periods of time has been suggested to be a principal factor for viral transmission via insemination. In attempts to gain insights into the mechanism of PRRSV persistence in boars, tissue distribution and sites of viral infection were investigated by in situ hybridization (ISH) using digoxigenin-labeled RNA probe and the ISH results were compared with those of reverse... -
Assessment of Porcine Reproductive and Respiratory Syndrome Virus RNA Load in Sera and Tissues during Acute Infection
Jin-Ho Shin and Thomas W. Molitor 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 12 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2002, 제 3권 제 2호 4 75-86 (12 pages)
Porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus (PRRSV) RNA load in sera and tissues during acute phase of infection was evaluated using a PCR- based quantitative assay. More than 80% of infected pigs (21/25) showed the peak level of viral RNA concentrations in serum (up to 8.6 x 10(8) copies/ml) at day 5 postinfection (PI), and started to clear the virus from the systemic circulation thereafter. Regression analysis using the viral RNA concentrations in sera obtained from days 5 to 14 PI... -
Expression of Open Reading Frame 5 Protein of Porcine Reproductive and Respiratory Syndrome Virus Using Semliki Forest Virus Expression System
Hyun Soo Kim, Kwang Soon Shin, In Wook Hwang, Chul Joong Kim, Su Mi Kim, Hae Sun Jung 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 6 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2002, 제 3권 제 1호 3 13-18 (6 pages)
The ORF5 gene encodes a major envelope glycoprotein (GP5), which is one of the three major proteins of porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus (PRRSV). The GP5 protein has been known to be a 24.5-26 kDa N-glycosylated envelope protein. The GP5 is involved in inducing neutralizing antibodies. For this reason, the GP5 is primary candidate for the PRRSV subunit vaccine. To produce the native form of GP5 in mammalian cells, we have cloned the ORF5 gene from PRRSV CNV-1 into the Semliki... -
Tissue distribution of bovine viral diarrhea virus antigens in persistently infected cattle
Taekyun Shin, Helen Acland 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 4 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2001, 제 2권 제 2호 2 81-84 (4 pages)
The tissue distribution and cellular localization of viral antigens in three cattle with persistent bovine viral diarrhea virus (BVDV) infection was studied. In three cases, necropsy findings of oral ulcers, abmasal ulcers and necrosis of Peyer's patches were suspected have been caused by BVDV infection. Non-cytopathic BVDV was isolated from a tissue pool of liver, kidneys and spleen. Immunohistochemical detection of BVDV showed that BVDV antigens were detected in both epithelial and... -
Different invasion efficiencies of Brucella abortus wild-type and mutants in RAW 264.7 and THP-1 phagocytic cells and HeLa non-phagocytic cells

Brucellosis is one of the common zoonoses caused by Brucella abortus (B. abortus). However, little has been reported on factors affecting invasion of B. abortus into host cells. To investigate cell-type dependent invasion of B. abortus, phagocytic RAW 264.7 and THP-1 cells and non-phagocytic HeLa cells were infected with wild-type and mutant B. abortus, and their invasion efficiencies were compared. The invasion efficiencies of the strains were cell-type dependent. Wild-type B. abortus invasion... -

Sung Ho Moon, Sung J. Yoo, Sang Hyun Noh, Taeyong Kwon, Dong Uk Lee, Sang H. Je, Myung Hyee Kim, Sang Won Seo, Young S. Lyoo1 대한수의학회 Korean Journal of Veterinary Research(구 대한수의학회지) 7 Pages
대한수의학회 Korean Journal of Veterinary Research(구 대한수의학회지) 2018, 제 58권 제 2호 2 73-79 (7 pages)
Outbreaks of porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus (PRRSV) in vaccinated sow herds from occurrence to stabilization were monitored and analyzed in terms of serology and reproductive performance. Three different conventional pig farms experienced severe reproductive failures with the introduction of a type 1 PRRSV. These farms had adopted mass vaccination of sows using a type 2 PRRSV modified live vaccine (MLV). Therefore, to control the type 1 PRRSV, an alternative vaccination...
