The Effects of Tramadol on Electroencephalographic Spectral Parameters and Analgesia in Rats
Hwan-SooJang, Il-SungJang, Maan-GeeLee 대한생리학회-대한약리학회 The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 8 Pages
대한생리학회-대한약리학회 The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 2010, Vol.14 No.3 12 191-198 (8 pages)
The effects of different doses of tramadol on analgesia and electroencephalographic (EEG) spectral parameters were compared in rats. Saline or tramadol 5, 10, 20 or 40 mg/kg was administered. The degree of analgesia was evaluated by tail-flick latency, and the degree of seizure was measured using numerical seizure score (NSS). Additionally, band powers, median power frequency and spectral edge frequency 95 were measured to quantify the EEG response. All doses of tramadol produced spike-wave... -
Influence of Ketamine on Catecholamine Secretion in the Perfused Rat Adrenal Medulla

receptor agonist, 100ՌM) and McN-A-343 (a selective muscarinic M1 receptor agonist, 100ՌM). Also, in the presence of ketamine (100ՌM), the CA secretory responses evoked by veratridine (a voltage-dependent Na+ channel activator, 100ՌM), Bay-K-8644 (an L-type dihydropyridine Ca2+ channel activator, 10ՌM), and cyclopiazonic acid (a cytoplasmic Ca2+-ATPase inhibitor, 10ՌM) were significantly reduced, respectively. Interestingly, thiopental sodium (100ՌM)... -
Influence of Nicorandil on Catecholamine Release in the Perfused Rat Adrenal Medulla

nicorandil, which is an ATP-sensitive potassium (KATP) channel opener, on secretion of catecholamines (CA) evoked by cholinergic stimulation and membrane depolarization from the isolated perfused rat adrenal glands. The perfusion of nicorandil (0.3∼3.0 mM) into an adrenal vein for 90 min produced relatively dose-and time-dependent inhibition in CA secretion evoked by ACh (5.32 mM), high K+ (a direct membrane depolarizer, 56 mM), DMPP (a selective neuronal nicotinic receptor agonist, 100μM for... -
Changes of Serum Ferritin in Acute Lung Injury Induced by Intestinal Ischemia/Reperfusion
SungDongPark, Yoon-YubPark 대한생리학회-대한약리학회 The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 6 Pages
대한생리학회-대한약리학회 The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 2006, Vol.10 No.4 4 187-192 (6 pages)
Serum ferritin levels are increased in subjects at-risk for or with acute lung injury (ALI), and there are observations to suggest that increases in serum ferritin levels may help predict the development of ALI in at-risk individuals. To deepen our understanding of increases of serum ferritin and their relationship to the development of ALI, we measured serum ferritin levels before and after intestinal ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) injury in rats, and found that serum ferritin levels increased... -
Open Channel Block of Kv3.1 Currents by Genistein, a Tyrosine Kinase Inhibitor

3.1 currents, thereby concentration-dependently reducing the current at the end of depolarizing pulse with an IC50 value of 15.71⁑0.67μM and a Hill coefficient of 3.28⁑0.35 (n=5). The time constant of activation at a 300 ms depolarizing test pulses from 80 mV to 40 mV was 1.01⁑0.04 ms and 0.90⁑0.05 ms (n=9) under control conditions and in the presence of 20μM genistein, respectively, indicating that the activation kinetics was not significantly modified by... -
Conditioned Medium from Dying Smooth Muscle Cell Induced Apoptotic Death
MoonHyunBu, KyeongAhLee, KoanHoiKim, ByungYongRhim 대한생리학회-대한약리학회 The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 8 Pages

a pathological pertinence. Conditioned media obtained from rat aorta smooth muscle cell (SMC) that were induced death by expressing FADD in the absence of tetracycline (FADD-SMC) triggered death of normal SMC. DNA fragmentation and caspase-3 activation were observed in dying SMC by conditioned media. FADD-SMC showed transcriptional activation of tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α. Conditioned medium contained TNF-α, indicating secretion of the cytokine from dying FADD-SMC. It was investigated if... -
MAPK Activation and Cell Viability after H2O2 Stimulation in Cultured Feline Ileal Smooth Muscle Cells

H2O2, and western blot analysis was performed with phospho- specific MAP kinase antibodies. Robust activation of ERK occurred within 30 min of 1 mM H2O2 treatment. H2O2-induced ERK activation was attenuated by a tyrosine kinase inhibitor, genistein, indicating that tyrosine kinase was probably involved in the ERK activation by H2O2. H2O2 was a moderate activator of SAPK/JNK, while p38 MAP kinase was not activated by H2O2. We suggest that ERK activation induced by short-term H2O2 treatment plays... -
Cooperation of Gβ and Gαq Protein in Contractile Response of Cat Lower Esophageal Sphincter (LES)

the contraction of LES cells in response to DAG (106 M), suggesting that this isozyme of PLC may not activate PKC. When Gq/11 antibody was incubated, the inhibitory effect of the incubation of PLC β3, but not of PLC β1 was additive (Fig. 6). In contrast, when Gβ antibody was incubated, the inhibitory effect of the incubation of PLC β1, but not of PLC β3 was additive. This data suggest that Gq/11 or Gβ may activate cooperatively different PLC isozyme, PLCβ1 or PLCβ3 respectively. -
Prevention of Diabetes Using Adenoviral Mediated Hepatocyte Growth Factor Gene Transfer in Mice
Hye-JeongLee, Hyun-JeongKim, Mee-SookRoh, Jae-IkLee, Sung-WonLee, Dong-SikJung, Duk-KyuKim, Mi-KyoungPark 대한생리학회-대한약리학회 The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 6 Pages
대한생리학회-대한약리학회 The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 2003, Vol.7 No.5 3 261-266 (6 pages)
Type 1 diabetes is an organ-specific autoimmune disease caused by the cytotoxic T cells-mediated destruction of the insulin-producing beta cells in the Langerhans pancreatic islets. Hepatocyte growth factor (HGF) is a potent mitogen and a promoter of proliferation of insulin producing beta cells of pancreatic islets. To study the role of HGF via viral vector in the development of streptozotocin (STZ)-induced diabetes in mice, we have developed an adenoviral vector genetically engineered to carry... -
Intrinsic Gating in Inward Rectifier Potassium Channels (Kir2.1) with Low Polyamine Affinity Generated by Site Directed Mutagenesis

reduced from 3.09⁑0.07 in wild type to 1.95⁑0.09 in D172H at pHi 6.3. In the presence of dual mutants of Kir2.1, where E224 is also replaced, spermine affinity becomes undetectable. However, channels still show inward rectification and open and shut under hyper- and depolarisation, respectively. We suggest that Kir2.1 channel are able to undergo conformation changes; these changes may be important physiologically in generating inward rectification, the normal parameters of which are...
