Resin flow, symptom development, and lignin biosynthesis in response to wounding and fungal inoculation were investigated in Pinus rigida and Pinus densiflora. Lesion mimic mutant (LMM) plants display spontaneous necrotic lesions on their leaves without any pathogenic infection.
