The current epidemiological status of infectious coryza and efficacy of PoulShot Coryza in specific pathogen-free chickens
Moo-Sung Han, Jong-Nyeo Kim, Eun-Ok Jeon, Hae-Rim Lee, Bon-Sang Koo, Kyeong-Cheol Min, Seung-Baek Lee, Yeon-Ji Bae, Jong-Suk Mo, 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 8 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2016, 제 17권 제 3호 8 323-330 (8 pages)
Infectious coryza (IC) is an infectious disease caused by Avibacterium (Av.) paragallinarum. IC is known to cause economic losses in the poultry industry via decreased egg production in layers. Between 2012 and 2013, Av. paragallinarum was isolated from seven chicken farms by Chungbuk National University. We identified Av. paragallinarum, the causative pathogen of IC by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and serovar serotype A, by multiplex PCR. Antibiotic sensitivity tests indicated that a few... -
Prevalence of Anaplasma, Bartonella and Borrelia Species in Haemaphysalis longicornis collected from goats in North Korea
Jun-Gu Kang, Sungjin Ko, W. Barney Smith, Heung-Chul Kim, In-Yong Lee, Joon-Seok Chae 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 10 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2016, 제 17권 제 2호 10 207-216 (10 pages)
North Korea is located on the northern part of the Korean Peninsula in East Asia. While tick-borne pathogens of medical and veterinary importance have been reported from China and South Korea, they have not been reported from North Korea. To screen for zoonotic tick-borne pathogens in North Korea, ticks were collected from domestic goats. A total of 292 (27 nymph, 26 male, 239 female) Haemaphysalis (H.) longicornis were collected and assayed individually for selected tick-borne pathogens. A... -
In vitro susceptibility of Staphylococcus aureus strains isolated from cows with subclinical mastitis to different antimicrobial agents
Ayman El Behiry*, Gerd Schlenker, Istvan Szabo, Uwe Roesler 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 9 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2012, 제 13권 제 2호 6 153-161 (9 pages)
Sensitivity to commercial teat dips (nonoxinol-9 iodine complex and chlorhexidine digluconate) of 56 Staphylococcus (S.) aureus strains isolated from quarter milk samples of various German dairy herds treated with different teat dipping schemes was investigated in this study. The minimum inhibitory concentration was determined using a broth macrodilution method according to the German Veterinary Association guidelines. The main objective of the current study was to induce in vitro resistance... -
Prevalence and molecular characterization of Cryptosporidium spp. in dairy cattle from farms in China
Fu Chen, Kehe Huang* 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 8 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2012, 제 13권 제 1호 3 15-22 (8 pages)
PCR products were sequenced and the sequences were deposited in the GenBank database under accession numbers EU369377-84 and GU070730-33. Phylogenetic analysis was performed and a distances matrix generated from these sequences confirmed the existence of Cryptosporidium (C.) parvum 'mouse' genotype, C. bovis, C. andersoni, C. hominis, and C. serpentis in cattle. These results represent the first report on the prevalence and genetic identification of Cryptosporidium species, and may contribute to... -
Plasmid profiling of Flavobacterium psychrophilum isolates from ayu (Plecoglossus altivelis altivelis) and other fish species in Japan
Ji Hyung Kim, Dennis K. Gomez, Toshihiro Nakai, Se Chang Park 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 3 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2010, 제 11권 제 1호 13 85-87 (3 pages)
(F.) psychrophilum isolates (n = 169). Size analysis of plasmids in F. psychrophilum isolates (n = 128) from several fish species demonstrated that six kinds of plasmids were harbored, and ayu isolates had different profiles compared to other isolates. Moreover, multiple isolates (n = 41) from CWD outbreaks in 2002 to 2003 at a single ayu farm were examined to determine differences between isolates from successive outbreaks and showed different profiles by the sources of seedlings. -
Detection of Bartonella species from ticks, mites and small mammals in Korea
Chul Min Kim, Ji Young Kim, Ying Hua Yi, Mi Jin Lee, Mae rim Cho, Devendra H. Shah, Terry A. Klein, Heung Chul Kim, Jin Won Song 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 8 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2005, 제 6권 제 4호 11 327-334 (8 pages)
infections in ticks, mites and small mammals (rodents, insectivores and weasels) collected during 2001 through 2004, from various military installations and training sites in Korea, using PCR and sequence analysis of 16S rRNA, 23S rRNA and groEL heat shock protein genes. The prevalence of Bartonella spp. was 5.2% (n = 1, 305 sample pools) in ticks, 19.1% (n = 21) in mesostigmatid mites and 13.7% (n = 424 individuals) in small mammals. The prevalence within the family Ixodidae was, 4.4% (n = 1,...
