Luciana Mandrioli, Serena Panarese, Alessandro Cesari, Maria Teresa Mandara, Paolo Stefano Marcato, Giuliano Bettini 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 5 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2007, 제 8권 제 2호 2 111-115 (5 pages)
Telomere length maintenance is regarded as a fundamental step in tumorigenesis, as most human brain tumors, including meningiomas, stabilize the ends of their chromosomes using telomerase. This investigation represents an introduction to telomerase expression in canine and feline meningiomas. Twenty-five archived cases (14 dogs and 11 cats) were immunohistochemically tested for human-telomerase reverse transcriptase (h- TERT), scored, and quantified; furthermore, mitoses were counted on sections... -
Immunohistochemical study of osteopontin in boar testis
Seungjoon Kim, Taekyun Shin 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 4 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2007, 제 8권 제 2호 1 107-110 (4 pages)
The expression of osteopontin (OPN) in boar testis was studied. Western blot analysis detected 66- and 32-kDa OPN immunopositive bands in the testes of adult boars. In postnatal piglets, the 66-kDa OPN band was detected in the testes, but not the 32-kDa band. In the newborn testis, OPN immunostaining was seen in gonocytes and in some supporting cells in the seminiferous tubules, as well as in interstitial Leydig cells. In the adult boar testis, OPN immunoreactivity was detected in seminiferous... -
Gamma-ray irradiation stimulates the expression of caveolin-1 and GFAP in rat spinal cord: a study of immunoblot and immunohistochemistry
Meejung Ahn, Heechul Kim, Jeong Tae Kim, Jeeyoung Lee, Jin Won Hyun, Jae Woo Park, Taekyun Shin 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 6 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2006, 제 7권 제 4호 1 309-314 (6 pages)
We studied the expression of caveolin-1 in the spinal cords of rats using 60Co γ-ray irradiation (single dose of 8 Gray (Gy)) in order to determine the possible involvement of caveolin-1 in the tissues of the central nervous system after irradiation. Spinal cords sampled at days 1, 4, and 9 post-irradiation (PI) (n = 5 per each time point) were analyzed by Western blot and immunohistochemistry. Western blot analysis showed that the expression of caveolin-1 was significantly increased at day 1... -
Protective effect of the isoflavone equol against DNA damage induced by ultraviolet radiation to hairless mouse skin
Sitarina Widyarini 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 7 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2006, 제 7권 제 3호 2 217-223 (7 pages)
Equol, an isoflavonoid metabolite produced from the dietary isoflavone daidzein by the gut microflora in mammals, has been found to protect not only against ultraviolet (UV) radiation-induced cutaneous inflammation and photoimmune suppression, but also have antiphotocarcinogenic properties in mice. Because the state of DNA damage has been correlated with suppression of the immune system and photocarcinogenesis, we have therefore examined the potential of equol to offer protection from... -
Altered expression of thioredoxin reductase-1 in dysplastic bile ducts and cholangiocarcinoma in a hamster model
Byung-IL Yoon, Dae-Yong Kim, Ja-June Jang, Jeong-Hee Han 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 6 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2006, 제 7권 제 3호 1 211-216 (6 pages)
Thioredoxin reductase 1 (TrxR) is a homodimeric selenoenzyme catalyzing thioredoxin (Trx) in an NADPHdependent manner. With regard to carcinogenesis, these redox proteins have been implicated in cell proliferation, transformation and anti-apoptosis. In the present study, using a hamster cholangiocarcinoma (ChC) model, we evaluated the immunohistochemical expression pattern of TrxR in precancerous lesions and ChCs as well as in normal bile ducts. The goal of this study was to determine the... -
Histopathological changes of testes and eyes by neutron irradiation with boron compounds in mice
Yeon-Joo Kim, Won-Ki Yoon, SI-Yun Ryu, Ki-Jung Chun, Hwa-Young Son, Sung-Whan Cho 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 5 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2006, 제 7권 제 1호 3 19-23 (5 pages)
This study was performed to investigate the biological effects of boron neutron capture therapy (BNCT)on the testes and eyes in mice using HANARO Nuclear Reactor, Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute.BNCT relies on the high capacity of 10B in capturing thermal neutrons. Sodium borocaptate (BSH, 75 ppm, iv)and borono-phenylalanine (BPA, 750 ppm, ip)have been used as the boron delivery agents.Mice were irradiated with neutron(flux:1.036739E +09, Fluence 9.600200E+12)by lying flatpose for 30 (10... -
B6C3F1 mice exposed to ozone with 4-(N-methyl-Nnitrosamino)-1-(3-pyridyl)-1-butanone and/or dibutyl phthalate showed toxicities through alterations of NF-κB, AP-1, Nrf2, and osteopontin
Min Young Kim, Kyung Suk Song, Gun Ho Park, Seung Hee Chang, Hyun Woo Kim, Jin Hong Park, Hwa Jin, Kook Jong Eu, Hyun Sun Cho, G 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 7 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2004, 제 5권 제 2호 7 131-137 (7 pages)
Toxic effects of ozone, 4-(N-methyl-N-nitrosamino)-1-(3- pyridyl)-1-butanone (NNK), and/or dibutyl phthalate (DBP) were examined through NF-kB, AP-1, Nrf2, and osteopontin (OPN) in lungs and livers of B6C3F1 mice. Electrophoretic mobility shift assay (EMSA) indicated that mice treated with combination of toxicants induced high NF-kB activities. Expression levels of p105, p65, and p50 proteins increased in all treated mice, whereas IkB activity was inhibited in NNK-, DBP-, and combination-treated... -
Altered maturation of dendritic cells by taxol, an anticancer drug
Hong-Gu Joo 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 6 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2003, 제 4권 제 3호 5 229-234 (6 pages)
cancers. Although it has been known that taxol induces the apoptosis of cancer cells through cytochrome C release and the activation of caspases, the effect of taxol on dendritic cells (DCs) has not been studied. In this study, taxol enhanced the expression of MHC class II on DCs, compared to medium-treated immature DCs. Surprisingly, the viability of DCs was not decreased by taxol, whereas that of cancer cells was. It was confirmed that taxol did not induce the apoptosis of DCs based on annexin... -
