The Construction of Young Children During COVID-19 in the Online Media in Indonesia
Ina Winangsih, Vina Adriany, Euis Kurniati 환태평양유아교육연구학회 Asia-Pacific journal of research in early childhood education 16 Pages
환태평양유아교육연구학회 Asia-Pacific journal of research in early childhood education 2023, Vol.17 No.1 11 217-232 (16 pages)
Media is believed to possess its power in constructing discursive meaning in the society. This article aims to see how media creates discourse pertaining children and childhood during the pandemic of COVID-19. This article adopts critical discourse analysis (CDA) in order to unpack power relation in the children discourse by analyzing 78 articles from websites found in the internet. The analysis suggests that there is one hegemonic and dominant discourse on children, namely discourse of... -
Life Stresses in Adolescents with Problematic Media Use: The Role of Anger Management in Cyberbullying

problematic media use among adolescents, cyberbullying. Methods: Using data from the Korean Youth Panel Survey, the researchers found three major sources of stress for adolescents: parents (abusive behavior), school (academic stress), and friends (bullying victimization); these were seen as predictors of cyberbullying. The researchers also tested an important intra-personal factor, anger management, which could influence the association between life stressors and adolescents’ bullying behavior.... -
Pandemic Screen Time: An Analysis of Parenting Practices Connected with Children’s Use of Media in South Korea and the United States during the COVID-19 Pandemic

(2020: 11). The article argues that although children’s screen time increased dramatically, parents continued to mediate it and make deliberate decisions about children’s media use. In particular, the analysis reveals parents’ decisions about different purposes for children’s media use, embracing many purposes they had previously resisted. These findings indicate that parents are making more nuanced decisions than previously employed when they followed indiscriminate screen time rules. -
Preschoolers’ Online Video Consumption Patterns and Self-Regulation

video platform before 24 months of age. Most children watched online video following the rules that their parents established (75.7%). Significant differences were found in children’s self-regulation depending on the presence or absence of the rules at home, the amount of screen time limit, when to watch during the day or during weekdays. This study provides empirical evidence to set preliminary guidelines for the optimal viewing conditions for preschoolers to avoid online video addiction. -
“In the Shoes of an Algorithm”: A Media Education Game to Address Issues Related to Recommendation Algorithms

of media content and creative production and are required to develop media education initiatives focused on a critical understanding of digital platforms and their underlying technical infrastructures. What are teenagers’ current perception and experiences of recommendation algorithms? What should be the key issues these initiatives should address, and how should they be addressed? The In the Shoes of an Algorithm project approached these questions through design-based research (DBR). This... -
Intracellular calcium-dependent regulation of the sperm-specific calcium-activated potassium channel, hSlo3, by the BKCa activator LDD175
TharakaDarshanaWijerathne, JihyunKim, DongkiYang, KyuPilLee 대한생리학회-대한약리학회 The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 9 Pages
대한생리학회-대한약리학회 The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 2017, Vol.21 No.2 12 241-249 (9 pages)
Plasma membrane hyperpolarization associated with activation of Ca2+-activated K+ channels plays an important role in sperm capacitation during fertilization. Although Slo3 (slowpoke homologue 3), together with the auxiliary γ2- subunit, LRRC52 (leucine-rich-repeat–containing 52), is known to mediate the pHsensitive, sperm-specific K+ current KSper in mice, the molecular identity of this channel in human sperm remains controversial. In this study, we tested the classical BKCa activators,... -
Role of Gap Junction in the Regulation of Renin Release and Intracellular Calcium in As 4.1 Cell Line

ryanodine, and thapsigargin. GA dose-dependently increased intracellular Ca2+ concentration, which was attenuated by nifedipine, nimodipine, ryanodine, and thapsigargin. However, RP-cAMP, chelerythrine, tyrphostin A23, or phenylarsine oxide did not induced any significant change in GA-stimulated increase of intracellular Ca2+ concentration. These results suggest that gap junction plays an important role on the regulation of renin release and intracellular Ca2+ concentration in As 4.1 cells. -

Expression of the ATP6L gene in Neuro-2A cells was increased by the treatment with H2O2 and incubation in hypoxic chamber, implying that the expression of the ATP6L gene is regulated by oxidative stresses. To examine mechanisms involved in the regulation of the gene expression by oxidative stresses, the transcriptional activity of the rat ATP6L promoter was studied. Transcription initiation site was determined by primer extension analysis and DNA sequencing, and promoter of the rat ATP6L and its... -

nitric oxide (NO) through the increase of the transcription of the inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) gene. To investigate the exact intracellular signaling pathway of the regulation of iNOS gene transcription by LPS plus IFN-γ, the effects of protein tyrosine kinase (PTK) inhibitor and protein kinase C (PKC) inhibitors on NO production, iNOS mRNA expression, nuclear factor-κB (NF-κB) binding activity and the promoter activity of iNOS gene containing two NF-κB sites have been examined in... -

for the biocontrol of the fungal pathogen. The optimal culture con- ditions were examined using cultures on solid agar and liquid media. High growth temperature enhanced spore formation but reduced antifungal activity in both solid and liquid media. The highest spore yield was obtained in a medium containing glucose as a carbon source and yeast extract as a nitrogen source. Soybean powder and wheat bran were effective nitrogen sources that promoted spore production and antifungal ac- tivity of...
