자궁경부암은 전 세계적으로 매년 약 50만 명의 환자가 발생하고 사망률이 50%에 이르는 주요생식기 암이다(Parkin, Bary, Ferlay, & Pisani, 2005). 우리나라의 경우, 국가암관리사업의 일환으로 1999년부터 자궁경부암 검진사업이 실시된 이후 조기진단이 증가하고 자궁경부암 발생이 다소 줄었다고는 하나, 2004년 한 해 동안 3,148명의 자궁경부암 환자가 발생하였고(Han et al., 2007), 2009년 3,733명이 발생하여 여전히 여성암 중 4.0% (7위)를 차지하는 주요 질환이다. 또한 전체적인 자궁경부암의 감소추세와는 달리 35세 미만... -
