decompose nitric oxide(NO). The operating condition was optimized in order to maximize the NO decomposition efficiency. The highest NO decomposition efficiency obtained was 94.3% at the power consumption of 19.8 W for the frequency of 10 kHz. NO decomposition efficiency increased with increasing residence time or with decreasing initial concentration of NO. As the thickness and melting point of the electrode increased, the NO decomposition efficiency was improved. It was also found that CH4 was... -
Transforming the Fitness Center Business Model: A Service-Profit Chain Approach
Sunny Yi, Timothy Connerton, Cheongyeul Park 한국여가문화학회 여가학연구 20 Pages
한국여가문화학회 여가학연구 2019, vol.17 no.3 2 23-42 (20 pages)
With the surging need for indoor leisure activities for Koreans due to deteriorating air condition and weather, the competitions among various business segments in the fitness industry have also grown, facing a considerable challenge for survival. Many fitness centers suffer from bad quality of service, transient and poorly trained workforce, and damaging reputation; thus, deteriorating sustainability in the long run. While a few fitness center operators offer differentiated products and... -
Synthesis and characterization of carbon doped TiO₂ photocatalysts supported on stainless steel mesh by sol-gel method
JO. Tijani, OO. Fatoba, TC. Totito, WD. Roos, LF. Petrik 한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 12 Pages
한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 2017, Vol.22 6 48-59 (12 pages)
This study synthesized pure anatase carbon doped TiO₂ photocatalysts supported on a stainless steel mesh using a sol-gel solution of 8% polyacrylonitrile (PAN)/dimethylformamide (DMF)/TiCl₄. The influence of the pyrolysis temperature and holding time on the morphological characteristics, particle sizes and surface area of the prepared catalyst was investigated. The prepared catalysts were characterized by several analytical methods: high resolution scanning electron microscopy (HRSEM), energy... -
Microwave-assisted pretreatment technologies for the conversion of lignocellulosic biomass to sugars and ethanol: a review
Pradeep Puligundla, Sang-Eun Oh, Chulkyoon Mok 한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 10 Pages
한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 2016, Vol.17 No.1 1 1-10 (10 pages)
Lignocellulosic biomass conversion to biofuels such as ethanol and other value-added bio-products including activated carbons has attracted much attention. The development of an efficient, cost-effective, and eco-friendly pretreatment process is a major challenge in lignocellulosic biomass to biofuel conversion. Although several modern pretreatment technologies have been introduced, few promising technologies have been reported. Microwave irradiation or microwave-assisted methods (physical and... -
Activated carbons prepared from mixtures of coal tar pitch and petroleum pitch and their electrochemical performance as electrode materials for electric double-layer capacitor
Eunji Lee, Soon Hyung Kwon, Poo Reum Choi, Ji Chul Jung, Myung-Soo Kim 한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 8 Pages
한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 2015, Vol.16 No.2 2 78-85 (8 pages)
Activated carbons (ACs) were prepared by activation of coal tar pitch (CTP) in the range of 700°C-1000°C for 1-4 h using potassium hydroxide (KOH) powder as the activation agent. The optimal activation conditions were determined to be a CTP/KOH ratio of 1:4, activation temperature of 900°C, and activation time of 3 h. The obtained ACs showed increased pore size distribution in the range of 1 to 2 nm and the highest specific capacitance of 122 F/g in a two-electrode system with an organic... -
Preparation and characterization of carbon fiber-reinforced thermosetting composites: a review
Fan-Long Jin, Soo-Jin Park 한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 11 Pages
한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 2015, Vol.16 No.2 1 67-77 (11 pages)
Carbon fibers (CFs) have a unique combination of properties which allow them to be widely used as reinforcing materials in advanced polymer composites. The mechanical properties of CF-reinforced polymer composites are governed mainly by the quality of interfacial adhesion between the CFs and the polymer matrix. Surface treatments of CFs are generally carried out to introduce chemical functional groups on the fiber surfaces, which provide the ability to control the surface characteristics of CFs.... -
Overlook of carbonaceous adsorbents and processing methods for elemental mercury removal
Kyong-Min Bae, Byung-Joo Kim and Soo-Jin Park 한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 9 Pages
한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 2014, Vol.15 No.4 2 238-246 (9 pages)
People have been concerned about mercury emissions for decades because of the extreme toxicity, persistence, and bioaccumulation of methyl Hg transformed from emitted Hg. This paper presents an overview of research related to mercury control technology and identifies areas requiring additional research and development. It critically reviews measured mercury emissions progress in the development of promising control technologies. This review provides useful information to scientists and engineers... -
