Effect of serum-derived albumin scaffold and canine adipose tissue-derived mesenchymal stem cells on osteogenesis in canine segmental bone defect model
Daeyoung Yoon, Byung-Jae Kang, Yongsun Kim, Seung Hoon Lee, Daeun Rhew, Wan Hee Kim, Oh-Kyeong Kweon 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 8 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2015, 제 16권 제 4호 2 397-404 (8 pages)
Composite biological and synthetic grafts with progenitor cells offer an alternative approach to auto- or allografts for fracture repair. This study was conducted to evaluate osteogenesis of autologous serum-derived albumin (ASA) scaffolds seeded with canine adipose tissue-derived mesenchymal stem cells (Ad-MSCs) in a canine segmental bone defect model. ASA scaffold was prepared with canine serum using cross-linking and freeze-drying procedures. Beta-tricalcium phosphate (β-TCP) was mixed at... -
Use of canine small intestinal submucosa allograft for treating perineal hernias in two dogs
A-Jin Lee, Wook-Hun Chung, Dae-Hyun Kim, Kyung-Pil Lee, Hyun Jung Suh, Sun Hee Do, Ki-dong Eom, Hwi-Yool Kim* 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 4 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2012, 제 13권 제 3호 16 327-330 (4 pages)
Here, we describe two dogs in which canine small intestinal submucosa (SIS) was implanted as a biomaterial scaffold during perineal herniorrhaphy. Both dogs had developed severe muscle weakness, unilaterally herniated rectal protrusions, and heart problems with potential anesthetic risks. Areas affected by the perineal hernia (PH) located between the internal obturator and external anal sphincter muscles were reconstructed with naive canine SIS sheets. In 12 months, post-operative complications... -
The effect of seasonal variation on anthrax epidemiology in the upper Zambezi floodplain of western Zambia
Hetron Mweemba Munang'andu*, Fredrick Banda, Victor Mukulule Siamudaala, Musso Munyeme, Christopher Jacob Kasanga, Byman Hamudud 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 6 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2012, 제 13권 제 3호 11 293-298 (6 pages)
Anthrax has become endemic throughout the upper Zambezi floodplain located in the Western Province of Zambia over the recent years. To date, no comprehensive study has been carried out to determine whether recurrence of anthrax outbreaks may be linked to differences in precipitation and human activities. Retrospective data for the period 1999 to 2007 showed that a total of 1,216 bovine cases of anthrax were reported. During the same period, 1,790 human anthrax cases and a corresponding case... -
Functional recovery and neural differentiation after transplantation of allogenic adipose-derived stem cells in a canine model of acute spinal cord injury
Hak-Hyun Ryu, Ji-Hey Lim, Ye-Eun Byeon, Jeong-Ran Park, Min-Soo Seo, Young-Won Lee, Wan Hee Kim, Kyung-Sun Kang*, Oh-Kyeong Kweo 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 12 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2009, 제 10권 제 4호 1 273-284 (12 pages)
In this study, we evaluated if the implantation of allogenic adipose-derived stem cells (ASCs) improved neurological function in a canine spinal cord injury model. Eleven adult dogs were assigned to three groups according to treatment after spinal cord injury by epidural balloon compression: C group (no ASCs treatment as control), V group (vehicle treatment with PBS), and ASC group (ASCs treatment). ASCs or vehicle were injected directly into the injured site 1 week after spinal cord injury.... -
Genetic characterization of Barbari goats using microsatellite markers
J. Ramamoorthi, K. Thilagam, S. N. Sivaselvam*, S. M. K. Karthickeyan 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 4 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2009, 제 10권 제 1호 11 73-76 (4 pages)
Genetic variation in Barbari goats, a highly prolific breed distributed widely in the northern part of India, known for better milk and meat quality, was studied as a part of genetic characterization and conservation. The genomic DNA from 50 unrelated Barbari goats were amplified via PCR with a panel of 21 microsatellite markers, and resolved through 6 per cent denaturing polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis followed by silver staining. The number of alleles ranged from 4 to 11, with allele sizes... -
The Safety and efficacy of a new self-expandable intratracheal nitinol stent for the tracheal collapse in dogs
Joon-young Kim, Hyun-jung Han, Hun-young Yun, Bora Lee, Ha-young Jang, Ki-dong Eom, Hee-myung Park, Soon-wuk Jeong* 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 3 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2008, 제 9권 제 1호 12 91-93 (3 pages)
after stent implantation, clinical signs, including dyspnea and respiratory distress, dramatically improved in all dogs. The radiographs showed that the implanted stents improved the tracheal collapse, and there were no side effects such as collapse, shortening or migration of the stents. In conclusion, the self-expandable intratracheal nitinol stents provided adequate stability to the trachea and were effective for attenuating the clinical signs associated with severe tracheal collapse. -
Transplantation of canine umbilical cord blood-derived mesenchymal stem cells in experimentally induced spinal cord injured dogs
Ji-Hey Lim, Ye-Eun Byeon, Hak-Hyun Ryu, Yun-Hyeok Jeong, Young-Won Lee, Wan Hee Kim, Kyung-Sun Kang, Oh-Kyeong Kweon 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 8 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2007, 제 8권 제 3호 12 275-282 (8 pages)
This study was to determine the effects of allogenic umbilical cord blood (UCB)-derived mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) and recombinant methionyl human granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (rmhGCSF) on a canine spinal cord injury model after balloon compression at the first lumbar vertebra. Twenty-five adult mongrel dogs were assigned to five groups according to treatment after a spinal cord injury: no treatment (CN); saline treatment (CP); rmhGCSF treatment (G); UCB-MSCs treatment (UCB-MSC);... -
Practical tips for modified dorsolumbar epidural anesthesia in cattle
Inhyung Lee, Norio Yamagishi, Kenji Oboshi, Naoki Sasaki, Haruo Yamada 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 4 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2006, 제 7권 제 1호 12 69-72 (4 pages)
Segmental dorsolumbar epidural anesthesia has been considered difficult to perform. The purpose of this study was to determine whether or not it is difficult for beginners to learn how to do modified dorsolumbar epidural anesthesia of cattle. Thirty cattle were divided into two groups, young (n = 8) and adult (n = 22), according to their age and body weight, and 0.12% new methylene blue (NMB) was injected into the first interlumbar (L1?L2) epidural space by four fifth-year veterinary school...
