4 71-97 (27 pages)

Oral Synechia from the Lower Lip to Maxillary Alveolus: A Case Report
6 Pages
6 89-94 (6 pages)
Congenital maxillomandibular fusion is an extremely rare condition. To date, approximately 70 cases of oral synechia have been reported, and most of these involved palate-mouth floor, palate-tongue, or interalveolar synechiae. This study reported a very unique case of synechia in which the lower lip vermilion had split into two branches and formed a cordlike structure as it attached to an anterior maxillary alveolar cleft. In particular, the synechia was accompanied by a cleft lip and a lower... -
NecroX-5 protects mitochondrial oxidative phosphorylation capacity and preserves PGC1α expression levels during hypoxia/ reoxygenation injury

Although the antioxidant and cardioprotective effects of NecroX-5 on various in vitro and in vivo models have been demonstrated, the action of this compound on the mitochondrial oxidative phosphorylation system remains unclear. Here we verify the role of NecroX-5 in protecting mitochondrial oxidative phosphorylation capacity during hypoxia-reoxygenation (HR). Necrox-5 treatment (10 μM) and non-treatment were employed on isolated rat hearts during hypoxia/ reoxygenation treatment using an ex... -
Effect of Taekwondo Training on Physical Fitness and Growth Index According to IGF-1 Gene Polymorphism in Children
The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 7 Pages
The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 2015, Vol.19 No.4 6 341-347 (7 pages)
This study analyzed the effect of regular Taekwondo training for 16 weeks on physical fitness and growth index depending on different IGF-1 gene polymorphisms. The subjects of the study were 44 male students who were 8 year years old. The IGF-1 gene showed the highest frequency of 18 CA repeat (190 bp) in 50% of subjects, and was found in the homozygote (n=11), heterozygote (n=22) and non-carriers (n=11). The results of the physical fitness and growth index among the gene polymorphism groups... -
Low Intensity Resistance Exercise Training with Blood Flow Restriction: Insight into Cardiovascular Function, and Skeletal Muscle Hypertrophy in Humans
The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 6 Pages
The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 2015, Vol.19 No.3 1 191-196 (6 pages)
Attenuated functional exercise capacity in elderly and diseased populations is a common problem, and stems primarily from physical inactivity. Decreased function and exercise capacity can be restored by maintaining muscular strength and mass, which are key factors in an independent and healthy life. Resistance exercise has been used to prevent muscle loss and improve muscular strength and mass. However, the intensities necessary for traditional resistance training to increase muscular strength... -
Long Term Effect of High Glucose and Phosphate Levels on the OPG/RANK/RANKL/TRAIL System in the Progression of Vascular Calcification in rat Aortic Smooth Muscle Cells
The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 8 Pages
The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 2015, Vol.19 No.2 5 111-118 (8 pages)
Osteoprotegerin (OPG), receptor activator of NF-κB ligand (RANKL)/receptor activator of NF-κB (RANK) axis, and TNF-related apoptosis-inducing ligand (TRAIL) participate in vascular calcification process including atherosclerosis, but their contributions under high glucose (HG) and phosphate (HP) condition for a long-term period (more than 2 weeks) have not been fully determined. In this study, we evaluated the effects of HG and HP levels over 2 or 4 weeks on the progression of vascular... -

of L-type Ca2 channels and cyclopiazonic acid (10μM), an inhibitor of cytoplasmic Ca2-ATPase were also inhibited. However, S()-raclopride (1∼10μM), given into an adrenal vein for 60 min, enhanced the CA secretory responses evoked by ACh, high K, DMPP and McN-A-343 only for the first period (4 min), although it alone has weak effect on CA secretion. Moreover, S()-raclopride (3.0μM) in to an adrenal vein for 60 min also augmented the CA release evoked by... -
Modulation of ATP-Induced Activation of the Muscarinic K+ Channel Activity by Protein Kinase C

The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 1998, Vol.2 No.6 11 743-753 (11 pages)
The atrial acetylcholine-activated K (KACh) channel is gated by the pertussis toxin-sensitive inhibitory G (GK) protein. Earlier studies revealed that ATP alone can activate the KACh channel via transphosphorylation mediated by nucleoside-diphosphate kinase (NDPK) in atrial cells of rabbit and guinea pig. This channel can be activated by various agonists and also modulated its function by phosphorylation. ATP-induced KACh channel activation (AIKA) was maintained in the presence of the... -
