Effect of Capsaicin on Delayed Rectifier K+ Current in Adult Rat Dorsal Root Ganglion Neurons
JunghyunHahn, SungkwonChung, HyoweonBang 대한생리학회-대한약리학회 The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 6 Pages

these currents change the shape of the action potential, its firing threshold and the resting membrane potential. In this study, whole cell configuration of patch clamp technique had been applied to record the blocking effect of capsaicin, a lipophilic alkaloid, on the delayed rectifier K current in cultured small diameter DRG neurons of adult rat. Capsaicin reduced the amplitude of K current in dose dependent manner, and the concentration-dependence curve was well described by the... -
Roles of Ca2+-Activated K+ Conductances on Spontaneous Firing Patterns of Isolated Rat Medial Vestibular Nucleus Neurons
SangWooChun, JaeWooJun, ByungRimPark 대한생리학회-대한약리학회 The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 8 Pages

a lack of the early fast AHP, and the delayed AHP was separated from the repolarization phase of the spike by a period of isopotentiality. Application of apamin and charybdotoxin (CTX), which selectively block the small and large calcium-activated potassium channels, respectively, resulted in significant changes in spontaneous firings. In both type A and type B cells, CTX (20 nM) resulted in a significant increase in spike frequency but did not induce bursting activity. By contrast, apamin (300... -
Effects of Bradykinin on Intracellular Calcium Transients in Cardiac Myocytes

about 4 min after exposing myocytes to BK, and then gradually decreased again by further exposure to BK. This tail current decreased remarkably at washing BK off but slowly recovered ca. 20 min later. The change in cell contractility was similar to that in tail current showing initial increase followed by gradual decrease. Removal of BK brought remarkable decrease in contractility, which was recovered 15∼20 min after cessation of electrical stimulation. Bradykinin increased Ca2 transient... -
Distribution, Content and Molecular Heterogeneity of Gastrin- Releasing Peptide in Rat Pancreas

3 parts of the pancreas; duodenal, body and splenic part. Vagotomy failed to change the content of immunoreactive GRP in the pancreas. Three distinct forms of immunoreactive GRP, very identical to GRP-27, bombesin-24 and neuromedin C, were observed in the rat pancreas by using reversed phase C18 HPLC and Sephadex G-50 superfine column chromatography. Cell bodies of neurons containing immunoreactive GRP were scattered in pancreatic connective tissues and their nerve fibers innervated pancreatic... -
Reoxygenation Stimulates EDRF(s) Release from Endothelial Cells of Rabbit Aorta
SukHyoSuh, JaeJinHan, SungJinPark, JaiYoungChoi, JaeHoonSim, YoungChulKim, KiWhanKim* 대한생리학회-대한약리학회 The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 12 Pages
대한생리학회-대한약리학회 The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 1999, Vol.3 No.4 4 393-404 (12 pages)
We have reported that hypoxia stimulates EDRF(s) release from endothelial cells and the release may be augmented by previous hypoxia. As a mechanism, it was hypothesized that reoxygenation can stimulate EDRF(s) release from endothelial cells and we tested the hypothesis via bioassay experiment. In the bioassay experiment, rabbit aorta with endothelium was used as EDRF donor vessel and rabbit carotid artery without endothelium as a bioassay test ring. The test ring was contracted by... -
The Effects of Sera from Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis Patients on Neuromuscular Transmission and Calcium Channels in Mice
HaiDunYan, JimokKim, SungJunJung, JunKim 대한생리학회-대한약리학회 The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 17 Pages
대한생리학회-대한약리학회 The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 1999, Vol.3 No.1 13 101-117 (17 pages)
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a degenerative neuromuscular disease of unknown etiology in which the upper and lower motor neurons are progressively destroyed. Recent evidences support the role of autoimmune mechanisms in the pathogenesis of ALS. This study investigated the effects of sera from ALS patients on neuromuscular transmission in phrenic nerve-hemidiaphragm preparations and on calcium currents of single isolated dorsal root ganglion (DRG) cells in mice. Mice were injected with... -
Gradual Reperfusion Lowers the Incidence of Reperfusion-Induced Ventricular Fibrillation in a Cat Model of Regional Ischemia

gradual reperfusion over a 5- and 10-min period, respectively, following a 20-min occlusion. The proportion of animals that exhibited VF during the reperfusion phase was 11/15 in the control, 7/10 in the 30 MIN, 5/10 in the 5 G and 2/11 in the 10 G groups. The incidence of VF in the 10 G group was significantly lower than that in the control or 30 MIN group subjected to abrupt reperfusion. These results suggest that the gradual reperfusion is a useful procedure against reperfusion-induced VF. -
Effect of Bromocriptine on 6-Hydroxydopamine-induced Lipid Peroxidation and Cytotoxicity in vitro and in vivo

The present study was to evaluate the protective effects of bromocriptine, which is known as D2 dopamine receptor agonist and used for the treatment of patients with Parkinson's disease (PD), on 6-hydroxydopamine (6-OHDA)-induced neurotoxicity in vitro and in vivo. Lipid peroxidation product (malondialdehyde; MDA) produced by the administration of 6-OHDA was profoundly reduced following the treatment of bromocriptine in a dose-dependent manner in rabbit brain homogenate. Quinone formation by... -

a dose-dependent manner (107 M∼103 M). ATP-induced [Ca2]i increases were slightly slowed in extracellular calcium-free conditions especially in sustained phase. ATP-induced [Ca2]i increment was also inhibited by the pretreatment of U73122, a phospholipase C (PLC) inhibitor, in a time-dependent manner. Suramin, a putative P2Y receptor antagonist, dose-dependently weakened ATP-induced [Ca2]i mobilization. Significant increases in cell proliferation were observed... -
