CEPHALOMETRIC STUDY OF OBSTRUCTIVE SLEEP APNEA PATIENTS IN THE UPRIGHT AND SUPINE POSITIONS
Jong-Chul Kim, Alan A Lowe The Korean Journal of Orthodontics 10 Pages
The Korean Journal of Orthodontics 1995, 제 25권 제 6호 1 655-664 (10 pages)
Sixty male patients with polysomnographically documented OSA were included in this study. A pair of cephalograrns were obtained in the upright and supine positions. In the supine position, the ANB angle, lower facial height and the cross-sectional area of soft palate increased and there was a decrease in the vertical airway length and oropharynx cross-sectional area. Positional changes did not affect the cross-sectional area of tongue, but the cross-sectional area of the oropharynx decreased in... -
Ursolic acid supplementation decreases markers of skeletal muscle damage during resistance training in resistance-trained men: a pilot study

improve skeletal muscle function in resistance-trained men. This study aimed to determine, using the same experimental paradigm, whether UA also has beneficial effects on exercise-induced skeletal muscle damage markers including the levels of cortisol, B-type natriuretic peptide (BNP), myoglobin, creatine kinase (CK), creatine kinase-myocardial band (CK-MB), and lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) in resistance-trained men. Sixteen healthy participants were randomly assigned to resistance training (RT)... -
Nortriptyline, a tricyclic antidepressant, inhibits voltage-dependent K+ channels in coronary arterial smooth muscle cells

We demonstrated the effect of nortriptyline, a tricyclic antidepressant drug and serotonin reuptake inhibitor, on voltage-dependent K+ (Kv) channels in freshly isolated rabbit coronary arterial smooth muscle cells using a whole-cell patch clamp technique. Nortriptyline inhibited Kv currents in a concentration-dependent manner, with an apparent IC50 value of 2.86±0.52 µM and a Hill coefficient of 0.77±0.1. Although application of nortriptyline did not change the activation curve,... -
Regulation of Ba2+-Induced Contraction of Murine Ureteral Smooth Muscle

by 10μM cyclopiazonic acid (CPA) in the frequency and amplitude. Finally, regulation of Ba2+-induced contraction was studied by FSK and ISO which are known as adenylyl cyclase activator and β-adrenergic receptor agonist, respectively. These drugs significantly suppressed the frequency and amplitude of Ba2+-induced contraction (p<0.05). These results suggest that Ba2+ produces phasic contraction in murine ureteral smooth muscle which can be regulated by FSK and β-adrenergic stimulation. -
Ca2+-induced Ca2+ Release from Sarcoplasmic Reticulum Negatively Regulates Myocytic ANP Release in Beating Rabbit Atria
The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 8 Pages
The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 2005, Vol.9 No.2 3 87-94 (8 pages)
It is not clear whether Ca2-induced Ca2 release from the sarcoplasmic reticulum (SR) is involved in the regulation of atrial natriuretic peptide (ANP) release. Previously, we have shown that nifedipine increased ANP release, indicating that Ca2 entry via voltage-gated L-type Ca2 channel activation decreases ANP release. The purpose of the present study was two-fold: to define the role of SR Ca2 release in the regulation of ANP release and whether Ca2... -
Avoidant Insecure Attachment as a Predictive Factor for Psychological Distress in Patients with Early Breast Cancer

9 805-810 (6 pages)
Objective_To identify attachment insecurity as an associative factor with unresolved psychological distress 1 year after surgery in the early breast cancer (BC) population. Methods_One-hundred fourteen participants completed the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS) and the Experiences in Close Relationship (ECR-M36) questionnaire within 1 week (baseline) and at 1-year post-surgery (follow-up). Participants were categorized into the distress and the non-distress groups based on a... -

at six months, 0.67±0.44mm at nine months, 0.70±0.42mm at 12 months and 0.68±0.46mm at 15 months. The success rate was 97.30%. The DIO SM implants exhibited the desired consequences over a short period with regard to the implant stability, marginal bone loss and success rate. A prospective single arm clinical trial demonstrated a low frequency of progressive bone loss, stable implant stability, and 100% success rate.
