Comparative Genomic Analysis of Pathogenic Factors of Pectobacterium Species Isolated in South Korea Using Whole-Genome Sequencing
Samnyu Jee, In-Jeong Kang, Gyeryeong Bak, Sera Kang, Jeongtae Lee, Sunggi Heu, Ingyu Hwang 한국식물병리학회 The Plant Pathology Journal 13 Pages
한국식물병리학회 The Plant Pathology Journal 2022, 38권 1호 2 12-24 (13 pages)
In this study, we conducted whole-genome sequenc- ing with six species of Pectobacterium composed of seven strains, JR1.1, BP201601.1, JK2.1, HNP201719, MYP201603, PZ1, and HC, for the analysis of patho- genic factors associated with the genome of Pectobac- terium. The genome sizes ranged from 4,724,337 bp to 5,208,618 bp, with the GC content ranging from 50.4% to 52.3%. The average nucleotide identity was 98% among the two Pectobacterium species and ranged from 88% to 96% among the remaining... -
Evaluation of Streptomyces saraciticas as Soil Amendments for Controlling Soil-Borne Plant Pathogens
Pei-Hsuan Wu, Tung-Tsuan Tsay, Peichen Chen 한국식물병리학회 The Plant Pathology Journal 11 Pages
한국식물병리학회 The Plant Pathology Journal 2021, 37권 6호 9 596-606 (11 pages)
Soil-borne diseases are the major problems in mono cropping. A mixture (designated LTM-m) composed of agricultural wastes and a beneficial microorganism Streptomyces saraceticus SS31 was used as soil amendments to evaluate its efficacy for managing Rhizoctonia solani and root knot nematode (Meloidogyne incognita). In vitro antagonistic assays revealed that SS31 spore suspensions and culture broths effectively suppressed the growth of R. solani, reduced nematode egg hatching, and increased... -

Pepper (Capsicum annuum L.) is an important agricul- tural crop worldwide. Recently, Colletotrichum scovillei, a member of the C. acutatum species complex, was re- ported to be the dominant pathogen causing pepper an- thracnose disease in South Korea. In the present study, we isolated bacterial strains from rhizosphere soil in a pepper field in Gangwon Province, Korea, and assessed their antifungal ability against C. scovillei strain KC05. Among these strains, a strain named BS1 significantly... -

grass (Sorghum almum). Recent insights in the protein-protein interactions of Polerovirus through protein interaction reporter (PIR) technology enable us to understand viral encoded proteins during virus replication, assembly, plant defence mechanism, short and long-distance travel of the virus. This review presents the recent understandings on virus biology, diagnosis, genetic diversity, virus-vector and host-virus interactions and conventional and next generation management approaches. -
Detection and Phylogenetic Analysis of Viruses Linked with Fig Mosaic Disease in Seventeen Fig Cultivars in Palestine
Rana Majed Jamous, Salam Yousef Abu Zaitoun, Omar Bassam Mallah, Munqez Shtaya, Toufic Elbeaino, Mohammed Saleem Ali-Shtayeh 한국식물병리학회 The Plant Pathology Journal 13 Pages
한국식물병리학회 The Plant Pathology Journal 2020, 36권 3호 7 267-279 (13 pages)
Fig mosaic is a viral disease (FMD) that spreads in Palestinian common fig (Ficus carica L.) orchards. Recognizing the economic value of fig plants and the harmful nature of FMD, the disease poses a significant threat to the economy of the fig production in Palestine. We applied the reverse transcription and amplification (RT-PCR) and PCR technique to leaf samples of 77 trees and 14 seedlings of 17 fig cultivars. The samples were collected from orchards in the main fig-growing provinces of the... -
MBCAST: A Forecast Model for Marssonina Blotch of Apple in Korea
Hyo-suk Kim, Jung-hee Jo, Wee Soo Kang, Yun Su Do, Dong Hyuk Lee, Mun-Il Ahn, Joo Hyeon Park, Eun Woo Park 한국식물병리학회 The Plant Pathology Journal 13 Pages
한국식물병리학회 The Plant Pathology Journal 2019, 35권 6호 5 585-597 (13 pages)
A disease forecast model for Marssonina blotch of apple was developed based on field observations on airborne spore catches, weather conditions, and disease incidence in 2013 and 2015. The model consisted of the airborne spore model (ASM) and the daily infection rate model (IRM). It was found that more than 80% of airborne spore catches for the experiment period was made during the spore liberation period (SLP), which is the period of days of a rain event plus the following 2 days. Of 13... -
Cyclic Dipeptides from Bacillus vallismortis BS07 Require Key Components of Plant Immunity to Induce Disease Resistance in Arabidopsis against Pseudomonas Infection
한국식물병리학회 The Plant Pathology Journal 8 Pages
한국식물병리학회 The Plant Pathology Journal 2017, 33권 4호 6 402-409 (8 pages)
Cyclic dipeptides (CDPs) are one of the simplest compounds produced by living organisms. Plant-growth promoting rhizobacteria (PGPRs) also produce CDPs that can induce disease resistance. Bacillus vallismortis strain BS07 producing various CDPs has been evaluated as a potential biocontrol agent against multiple plant pathogens in chili pepper. However, plant signal pathway triggered by CDPs has not been fully elucidated yet. Here we introduce four CDPs, cyclo(Gly-L-Pro) previously identified... -

manner, as well as plant protection in detached tomato leaves against bacterial wilt by 106 and 107 cfu/ml of R. solanacearum. H2O2- and SNP-mediated protection was also evaluated in pots using soil-drench treatment with the bacterial inoculation, and relative ‘area under the disease progressive curve (AUDPC)’ was calculated to compare disease protection by H2O2 and/ or SNP with untreated control. Neither H2O2 nor SNP protect the tomato seedlings from the bacterial wilt, but H2O2 + SNP mixture... -
Biological Efficacy of Streptomyces sp. Strain BN1 against the Cereal Head Blight Pathogen Fusarium graminearum

was mitigated when wheat seeds were treated with BN1 spore suspension prior to F. graminearum infection. BN1 also significantly decreased FHB severity when it was sprayed onto wheat heads, whereas BN1 was not effective when wheat heads were point inoculated. These results suggest that spraying of BN1 spores onto wheat heads during the wheat flowering season can be efficient for plant protection. Mechanistic studies on the antagonistic effect of BN1 against F. graminearum remain to be analyzed. -
Research Notes : Difference in Chemotype Composition of Fusarium graminearum Populations Isolated from Durum Wheat in Adjacent Areas Separated by the Apennines in Northern-Central Italy
한국식물병리학회 The Plant Pathology Journal 6 Pages
한국식물병리학회 The Plant Pathology Journal 2011, 27권 4호 8 354-359 (6 pages)
Chemotype composition of Fusarium graminearum strains, isolated from durum wheat kernels from naturally FHB infected fields in Northern and Central Italy, was investigated by multiplex PCR. The different climatic and environmental conditions of the two examined areas separated by the Apennines affected the composition of chemotypes. 15Ac-DON chemotype was predominant in both the sub areas. Nivalneol chemotype was more frequent in the warmer sub area.
