in Ang II-stimulated VSMC. In addition, IGFBP5 knockdown resulted in modulation of Ang II induced proliferation and migration via IGFBP5 induction. In addition, Pitavastatin modulated Ang II induced proliferation and migration in VSMC. Taken together, our results indicated that Ang II induces IGFBP5 through AT1, ERK1/2, P38, and PI3K signaling pathways, which were inhibited by Pitavastatin. These findings may suggest that Pitavastatin has an effect on vascular disease including hypertension. -

as a potentially useful therapeutic target for car-diovascular disorders. However, the effect of the HDAC inhibitor, trichostatin A (TSA), on vasoreactivity and hypertension remains unknown. We performed aortic coarctation at the inter-renal level in rats in order to create a hypertensive rat model. Hypertension induced by abdominal aortic coarctation was significantly suppressed by chronic treatment with TSA (0.5 mg/kg/day for 7 days). Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate-driven reactive... -
Scutellarein Reduces Inflammatory Responses by Inhibiting Src Kinase Activity

TIR-domain-containing adapter-inducing interferon-β (TRIF) construct into Human embryonic kidney 293 (HEK 293) cells; similarly, NF-κB nuclear translocation was inhibited by SCT. Moreover, the phosphorylation levels of various upstream signaling enzymes involved in NF-κB activation were decreased by SCT treatment in LPS-treated RAW264.7 cells. Finally, SCT strongly inhibited Src kinase activity and also inhibited the autophos-phorylation of overexpressed Src. Therefore, our data suggest that... -
Characteristics of K+ Outward Currents in the Cochlear Outer Hair Cells of Circling Mice within the First Postnatal Week

K+ outward currents in the outer hair cells (OHCs) of circling mice (homozygous (cir/cir) mice), an animal model for human deafness (DFNB6 type), were investigated using a whole cell patch clamp technique. Littermate heterozygous (+/cir) mice of the same age (postnatal day (P) 0 −P6) were used as controls. Similar slow rising K+ currents were observed in both genotypes, but their biophysical and pharmacological properties were quite different. The values of Vhalf for activation were... -
Antinociceptive Effects of Transcytosed Botulinum Neurotoxin Type A on Trigeminal Nociception in Rats

type A (BoNT-A) on orofacial inflammatory pain to evaluate the antinociceptive effect of BoNT-A and its underlying mechanisms. The experiments were carried out on male Sprague-Dawley rats. Subcutaneous (3 U/kg) or intracisternal (0.3 or 1 U/kg) administration of BoNT-A significantly inhibited the formalin-induced nociceptive response in the second phase. Both subcutaneous (1 or 3 U/kg) and intracisternal (0.3 or 1 U/kg) injection of BoNT-A increased the latency of head withdrawal response in the... -
Effects on G2/M Phase Cell Cycle Distribution and Aneuploidy Formation of Exposure to a 60 Hz Electromagnetic Field in Combination with Ionizing Radiation or Hydrogen Peroxide in L132 Nontumorigenic Human Lung Epithelial Cells
HeeJin, HyeEunYoon, Jae-SeonLee, Jae-KyungKim, SungHoMyung, Yun-SilLee 대한생리학회-대한약리학회 The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 6 Pages
대한생리학회-대한약리학회 The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 2015, Vol.19 No.2 6 119-124 (6 pages)
The aim of the present study was to assess whether exposure to the combination of an extremely low frequency magnetic field (ELF-MF; 60 Hz, 1 mT or 2 mT) with a stress factor, such as ionizing radiation (IR) or H2O2, results in genomic instability in non-tumorigenic human lung epithelial L132 cells. To this end, the percentages of G2/M-arrested cells and aneuploid cells were examined. Exposure to 0.5 Gy IR or 0.05 mM H2O2 for 9 h resulted in the highest levels of aneuploidy; however, no cells... -
Transient Receptor Potential C4/5 Like Channel Is Involved in Stretch-Induced Spontaneous Uterine Contraction of Pregnant Rat
SeungsooChung, Young-HwanKim, Ji-HyunJoeng, Duck-SunAhn 대한생리학회-대한약리학회 The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 6 Pages
대한생리학회-대한약리학회 The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 2014, Vol.18 No.6 9 503-508 (6 pages)
Spontaneous myometrial contraction (SMC) in pregnant uterus is greatly related with gestational age and growing in frequency and amplitude toward the end of gestation to initiate labor. But, an accurate mechanism has not been elucidated. In human and rat uterus, all TRPCs except TRPC2 are expressed in pregnant myometrium and among them, TRPC4 are predominant throughout gestation, suggesting a possible role in regulation of SMC. Therefore, we investigated whether the TRP channel may be involved... -
MicroRNA-1 in Cardiac Diseases and Cancers

MicroRNAs (miRs) are endogenous ≈22-nt non-coding RNAs that participate in the regulation of gene expression at post-transcriptional level. MiR-1 is one of the muscle-specific miRs, aberrant expression of miR-1 plays important roles in many physiological and pathological processes. In this review, we focus on the recent studies about miR-1 in cardiac diseases and cancers. The findings indicate that miR-1 may be a novel, important biomarker, and a potential therapeutic target in cardiac... -
The Downregulation of Somatic A-Type K+ Channels Requires the Activation of Synaptic NMDA Receptors in Young Hippocampal Neurons of Rats
Moon-SeokKang, Yoon-SilYang, Seon-HeeKim, Joo-MinPark, Su-YongEun, Sung-CherlJung 대한생리학회-대한약리학회 The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 7 Pages
대한생리학회-대한약리학회 The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 2014, Vol.18 No.2 7 135-141 (7 pages)
The downregulation of A-type K+ channels (IA channels) accompanying enhanced somatic excitability can mediate epileptogenic conditions in mammalian central nervous system. As IA channels are domi-nantly targeted by dendritic and postsynaptic processings during synaptic plasticity, it is presumable that they may act as cellular linkers between synaptic responses and somatic processings under various excitable conditions. In the present study, we electrophysiologically tested if the downregulation... -

Transient receptor potential melastatin 7 (TRPM7) is a member of the melastatin-related subfamily and contains a channel and a kinase domain. TRPM7 is known to be associated with cell proliferation, survival, and development. It is ubiquitously expressed, highly permeable to Mg2+ and Ca2+, and its channel activity is negatively regulated by free Mg2+ and Mg-complexed nucleotides. Recent studies have investigated the relationships between TRPM7 and a number of diseases. TRPM7 regulates cell...
