Arachidonic Acid Activates K+-Cl?-cotransport in HepG2 Human Hepatoblastoma Cells
YongSooLee 대한생리학회-대한약리학회 The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 8 Pages
대한생리학회-대한약리학회 The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 2009, Vol.13 No.5 11 401-408 (8 pages)
a KCC activator- induced K+ efflux was significantly suppressed by bromoenol lactone (BEL), an inhibitor of the calcium- independent PLA2 (iPLA2), whereas it was not significantly altered by arachidonyl trifluoromethylketone (AACOCF3) and p-bromophenacyl bromide (BPB), inhibitors of the calcium-dependent cytosolic PLA2 (cPLA2) and the secretory PLA2 (sPLA2), respectively. NEM increased AA liberation in a dose- and time-dependent manner, which was markedly prevented only by BEL. In addition, the... -
The Influences of G Proteins, Ca2+, and K+ Channels on Electrical Field Stimulation in Cat Esophageal Smooth Muscle

NO released by myenteric neurons controls the off contraction induced by electrical field stimulation (EFS) in distal esophageal smooth muscle, but in the presence of nitric oxide synthase (NOS) inhibitor, L-NAME, contraction by EFS occurs at the same time. The authors investigated the intracellular signaling pathways related with G protein and ionic channel EFS-induced contraction using cat esophageal muscles. EFS-induced contractions were significantly suppressed by tetrodotoxin (1ՌM)... -
Optimized Immunohistochemical Analysis of Cerebellar Purkinje Cells Using a Specific Biomarker, Calbindin D28k

Cerebellar Purkinje cells (PCs) play a crucial role in motor functions and their progressive degeneration is closely associated with spinocerebellar ataxias. Although immunohistochemical (IHC) analysis can provide a valuable tool for understanding the pathophysiology of PC disorders, the method validation of IHC analysis with cerebellar tissue specimens is unclear. Here we present an optimized and validated IHC method using antibodies to calbindin D28k, a specific PC marker in the cerebellum. To... -
Possible Involvement of Ca2+ Activated K+ Channels, SK Channel, in the Quercetin-Induced Vasodilatation
SeiichiroNishida, HiroyasuSatoh 대한생리학회-대한약리학회 The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 5 Pages
대한생리학회-대한약리학회 The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 2009, Vol.13 No.5 5 361-365 (5 pages)
Effects of quercetin, a kind of flavonoids, on the vasodilating actions were investigated. Among the mechanisms for quercetin-induced vasodilatation in rat aorta, the involvement with the Ca2+ activated K+ (KCa) channel was examined. Pretreatment with NE (5ՌM) or KCl (60 mM) was carried out and then, the modulation by quercetin of the constriction was examined using rat aorta ring strips (3 mm) at 36.5oC. Quercetin (0.1 to 100ՌM) relaxed the NE-induced vasoconstrictions in a... -
Effects of Losartan on Catecholamine Release in the Isolated Rat Adrenal Gland

acting as both agonist and antagonist to nicotinic receptors of the rat adrenal medulla, which might be dependent on the concentration. It is also thought that this inhibitory effect of losartan may be mediated by blocking the influx of both Na+ and Ca2+ into the rat adrenomedullary chromaffin cells as well as by inhibiting the Ca2+ release from the cytoplasmic calcium store, which is thought to be relevant to the AT1 receptor blockade, in addition to its enhancement of the CA release. -
Role of T-type Ca2+ Channels in the Spontaneous Phasic Contraction of Pregnant Rat Uterine Smooth Muscle
Si-EunLee, Duck-SunAhn, Young-HoLee 대한생리학회-대한약리학회 The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 9 Pages
대한생리학회-대한약리학회 The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 2009, Vol.13 No.3 15 241-249 (9 pages)
Although extracellular Ca2+ entry through the voltage-dependent Ca2+ channels plays an important role in the spontaneous phasic contractions of the pregnant rat myometrium, the role of the T-type Ca2+ channels has yet to be fully identified. The aim of this study was to investigate the role of the T-type Ca2+ channel in the spontaneous phasic contractions of the rat myometrium. Spontaneous phasic contractions and [Ca2+]i were measured simultaneously in the longitudinal strips of female... -
Provinol Inhibits Catecholamine Secretion from the Rat Adrenal Medulla

responses evoked by stimulation of cholinergic (both muscarinic and nicotinic) receptors as well as by direct membrane-depolarization from the perfused rat adrenal medulla. This inhibitory effect of provinol seems to be exerted by inhibiting the influx of both calcium and sodium into the rat adrenal medullary cells along with the blockade of Ca2+ release from the cytoplasmic calcium store at least partly through the increased NO production due to the activation of nitric oxide synthase. -

current ratio of EPSCs between +50 and −50 mV. NMDA/AMPA ratio was 0.20±0.05, AMPA receptor ratio of GluR2-lacking/GluR2- containing subunit was 0.26±0.05 and NMDA receptor ratio of NR2B/NR2A subunit was 0.32±0.03. The rectification index (control 2.39±0.27) was decreased in the presence of both APV and combination of APV and IEM-1460 (1.02±0.11 and 0.93±0.09, respectively). These results suggest that the major components of the striatal glutamate receptors are GluR2-containing AMPA... -
Forskolin Changes the Relationship between Cytosolic Ca2+ and Contraction in Guinea Pig Ileum

대한생리학회-대한약리학회 The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 2009, Vol.13 No.3 8 189-194 (6 pages)
This study was designed to clarify the mechanism of the inhibitory effect of forskolin on contraction, cytosolic Ca2+ level ([Ca2+]i), and Ca2+ sensitivity in guinea pig ileum. Forskolin (0.1 nM∼10ՌM) inhibited high K+ (25 mM and 40 mM)- or histamine (3ՌM)-evoked contractions in a concentration- dependent manner. Histamine-evoked contractions were more sensitive to forskolin than high K+- evoked contractions. Spontaneous changes in [Ca2+]i and contractions were inhibited by... -

presence of tempol. Furthermore, in voltage-clamped HUVECs, OxLDL enhanced SOC and evoked outward currents simultaneously. Clamping intracellular Ca2+ to 1 ՌM activated large-conductance Ca2+-activated K+ (BKCa) current spontaneously, and this activated BKCa current was further enhanced by OxLDL or by LPC. From these results, we concluded that OxLDL or its main component LPC activates Ca2+-permeable Ca2+-activated NSC current and BKCa current simultaneously, thereby increasing SOC.
