Dispersions of partially reduced graphene oxide in various organic solvents and polymers
Hye Min Kim, Seo Gyun Kim, Heon Sang Lee 한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 8 Pages
한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 2017, Vol.23 8 55-62 (8 pages)
We report on the dispersion state of partially reduced graphene oxide (PRGO) in organic solvents, namely methyl ethyl ketone, ethyl acetate, methylene chloride, toluene, and xylene, by controlling the carbon to oxygen (C/O) atomic ratio of the PRGOs. A two-phase solvent exchange method is also proposed to transfer PRGO from water to an aprotic solvent, such as methyl ethyl ketone. We achieve relatively good dispersion in aprotic and non-polar solvents by controlling the C/O atomic ratio of the... -
Adsorption of Nile Blue A from aqueous solution by different nanostructured carbon adsorbents
Shahryar Abbasi, Hadi Noorizadeh 한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 8 Pages

by scanning electron microscope and X-ray diffractometer. The effects of various parameters were investigated. Kinetic adsorption data were analyzed using the first-order model and the pseudo-second-order model. The regression results showed that the adsorption kinetics were more accurately represented by the pseudo-second-order model. The equilibrium data for the aqueous solutions were fitted to Langmuir and Freundlich isotherms, and the equilibrium adsorption of NBA was best described by the... -
Fabrication of nitrogen doped ordered mesoporous carbon derived from glucosamine with hybrid capacitive behaviors
Deyi Zhang, Mei Han, Yubing Li, Bing Wang, Yi Wang, Kunjie Wang, Huixia Feng 한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 8 Pages
한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 2017, Vol.23 2 9-16 (8 pages)
This paper introduces a nitrogen-doped ordered mesoporous carbon (NOMC) derived from glucosamine with hybrid capacitive behaviors, achieved by successfully combining electrical double-layer capacitance with pseudo-capacitance behaviors. The nitrogen doping content of the fabricated NOMC reached 7.4 at% while its specific surface area (SBET) and total pore volume reached 778 m2 g?1 and 1.17 cm3 g?1, respectively. A dual mesoporous structure with small mesopores centered at 3.6 nm and large... -
Graphene accelerates osteoblast attachment and biomineralization
Jia Ren, Xiaogang Zhang, Yao Chen 한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 6 Pages
한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 2017, Vol.22 5 42-47 (6 pages)
In this paper, the in vitro biocompatibility of graphene film (GF) with osteoblasts was evaluated through cell adhesion, viability, alkaline phosphatase activity, F-actin and vinculin expressions, versus graphite paper as a reference material. The results showed that MG-63 cells exhibited stronger cell adhesion, better proliferation and viability on GF, and osteoblasts cultured on GF exhibited vinculin expression throughout the cell body. The rougher and wrinkled surface morphology, higher... -
The effects of carbon coating onto graphite filler on the structure and properties of carbon foams
Ji-Hyun Kim, Do Young Kim, Young-Seak Lee 한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 5 Pages
한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 2017, Vol.21 16 111-115 (5 pages)
Carbon foams (CFms) are of crucial importance in electrical and mechanical devices due to their high thermal conductivity used for eliminating high heat flow and maintaining low temperatures [1]. The most common CFms are types of aluminum alloys, copper and diamond. However, the mechanical properties of metal-based heat sink materials are difficult to control at temperatures over 550°C [2,3]. Thus, CFms are actively investigated as heat sink materials because of their good properties, such as... -
A simple method to determine the surface energy of graphite
Jinseo Lee, Bumjae Lee 한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 4 Pages
한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 2017, Vol.21 15 107-110 (4 pages)
Graphite is a material condensed from aromatic hydrocarbon that forms an infinite plane that exhibits an amphoteric feature. Structurally, a number of benzene rings form a solid planar sheet. A number of layers are formed from numerous unit cells, a so-called grapheme. A graphene sheet has an electron structure, which expands π-electrons into a two dimensional space. Graphite has AB-stacked bilayers of graphene. Because the interaction between two sheets is weak, their electronic structure may... -
Formation of nanojoints between carbon nanotubes and copper nanoparticles
Jagjiwan Mittal, Kwang Lung Lin 한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 7 Pages
한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 2017, Vol.21 11 86-92 (7 pages)
Exceptional properties and a one dimensional structure make carbon nanotubes (CNTs) a promising candidate for future applications in the electronic industry [1-3]. Because of their smaller dimensions and higher conductivity as compared to copper, multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNT) may increase the bandwidth density of global interconnects [4]. They demonstrate charge carrier mean free paths between 500 nm and 10 μm as compared to 40 nm in metals. CNTs can carry exceptionally high current... -

graphene oxide (GO). The as-prepared CRG was characterized with X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscope (TEM), Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), ultraviolet-visible (UV-Vis), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and Raman spectroscopic techniques. Removal of oxygen containing moieties from the GO was confirmed by UV-Vis, FT-IR and XPS spectroscopic data. The XRD and Raman data further confirmed the formation of the CRG. TEM images showed the sheet structure of... -

한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 2017, Vol.21 7 61-67 (7 pages)
We report the use of carrot, a new and inexpensive biomaterial source, for preparing high quality carbon dots (CDs) instead of semi-conductive quantum dots for bioimaging application. The as-derived CDs possessing down and up-conversion photoluminescence features were obtained from carrot juice by commonly used hydrothermal treatment. The corresponding physiochemical and optical properties were investigated by electron microscopy, fluorescent spectrometry, and other spectroscopic methods. The...
