In vitro neuronal and osteogenic differentiation of mesenchymal stem cells from human umbilical cord blood
Ki-Soo Park, Yong-Soon Lee , Kyung-Sun Kang 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 6 Pages
7 343-348 (6 pages)
stem cells (MSCs) have the capabilities for self-renewal and differentiation into cells with the phenotypes of bone, cartilage, neurons and fat cells. These features of MSCs have attracted the attention of investigators for using MSCs for cell-based therapies to treat several human diseases. Because bone marrowderived cells, which are a main source of MSCs, are not always acceptable due to a significant drop in their cell number and proliferative/differentiation capacity with age, human... -
Site adaptations of Acanthogyrus (Acanthosentis) tilapiae: Observations through light and scanning electron microscopy
Mahmoud E. Bayoumy, Osman K. Abd El-Hady, Hussein A.M. Osman 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 4 Pages
6 339-342 (4 pages)
Acanthogyrus (Acanthosentis) tilapiae parasites were collected from the intestines of 300 fish belonging to three tilapia species sourced at the River Nile, Giza, Egypt. The proboscis of the parasite was characterized by three rows of hooks that curved towards the posterior of the body. The first row is supported by unmodified hooks. The parasite tegument has a series of alternative folds and a large number of pores. Sensory ganglia are located on the surface of the proboscis and body.... -
Enhanced immune response with foot and mouth disease virus VP1 and interleukin-1 fusion genes
Jong Hyeon Park, Sun Jin Kim, Jae Ku Oem, Kwang Nyeong Lee, Yong Joo Kim, Soo Jeong Kye, Jee Yong Park, Yi Seok Joo 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 6 Pages
8 257-262 (6 pages)
Western blotting and an immunofluorescence assay were used to confirm the expression of VP1 or P1-2A and IL-1α. Mice were inoculated with the encoding plasmids via the intradermal route, and the IgG1 and IgG2a levels were used to determine the immune responses. These results show that although the immunized groups did not carry a high level of neutralizing antibodies, the plasmids encoding the VP1/ IL-1α, and P1-2A /IL-1α fused genes were effective in inducing an enhanced immune response. -
Absence of vertical transmission of Helicobacter pylori in an experimental murine model
Jin-Uk Lee, Kwoni Jung, Okjin Kim 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 4 Pages
3 225-228 (4 pages)
Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) infection is acquired mainly in early childhood but the precise transmission routes are unclear. This study examined the maternal H. pylori infection status in order to determine the potential of perinatal transmission. These issues were investigated using an experimental murine model, the Mongolian gerbil, which has been reported to be the most suitable laboratory animal model for studying H. pylori. Pregnant Mongolian gerbils, infected experimentally with H.... -
Modulatory effects of chitosan adipate on the T and B lymphocyte subsets in mice
Bozena Obminska-Mrukowicz, Marianna Szczypka, Bartosz Gaweda 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 4 Pages
11 157-160 (4 pages)
This study examined the subsets of T lymphocytes in the thymus, spleen and mesenteric lymph nodes as well as the subsets of B lymphocytes in the spleen and mesenteric lymph nodes in mice administered chitosan adipate (20 mg/kg) intraperitoneally once or four times at 24 h intervals. The results showed that chitosan adipate decreased the percentage of immature CD4+CD8+ thymic T cells and increased the percentage of mature CD4+ and CD8+ thymocytes. The most significant stimulating effect was... -
Development of immunoassays for the detection of kanamycin in veterinary fields
Yong Jin, Jin-Wook Jang, Chang-Hoon Han, Mun-Han Lee 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 7 Pages
3 111-117 (7 pages)
Monoclonal antibody against kanamycin was prepared, and competitive direct ELISA and immunochromatographic assay were developed using the antibody to detect kanamycin in animal plasma and milk. The monoclonal antibody produced was identified to be IgG1, which has a kappa light chain. No cross-reactivity of the antibody was detected with other aminoglycosides, indicating that the monoclonal antibody was highly specific for kanamycin. Based on competitive direct ELISA, the detection limits of... -
Concurrent response to challenge infection with Cryptosporidium parvum in immunosuppressed C57BL/6N mice
Chan-Gu Surl , Hyeon-Cheol Kim 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 5 Pages
8 47-51 (5 pages)
We investigated the response to challenge infection with Cryptosporidium parvum oocysts in immunosuppressed C57BL/6N mice.In the primary infection, fecal oocyst shedding and parasite colonization were greater in immunosuppressed mice than in nonimmunosuppressed mice.Compared with primary infection, challenge infection with C.parvum didn 't show any oocyst shedding and parasite colonization.Especially, oocyst shedding and parasite colonization from the mice infected with heat- killed oocysts were... -
The anti-thrombotic activity of surfactins
Jong hwan Lim, Byung kwon Park, Myoung seok Kim, Mi Hyun Hwang, Man Hee Rhee, Seung Chun Park, Hyo in Yun 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 3 Pages
15 353-355 (3 pages)
Platelet aggregation was inhibited and the density of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) clots was decreased by the preincubation of PRP with surfactins, an acidic lipopeptide of Bacillus subtilis complex BC1212 isolated from soybean paste, in dose-dependent manner. Our findings suggest that surfactins are able to prevent a platelet aggregation leading to an inhibition of additional fibrin clot formation, and to enhance fibrinolysis with facilitated diffusion of fibrinolytic agents. -
Comparison of an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay with serum neutralization test for serodiagnosis of porcine epidemic diarrhea virus infection
