Korakot Nganvongpanit*, Burin Boonsri, Thatdanai Sripratak, Patsanan Markmee 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 8 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2013, 제 14권 제 2호 14 215-222 (8 pages)
Thirty-one dogs with patellar luxation (grades 2 and 3) were categorized into three groups. Group 1 (G.1; n = 12) had sodium hyaluronate (SHA) intra-articularly injected into the stifle joint that received surgery. Group 2 (G.2; n = 10) received SHA twice: first after surgery and then 1 week later. Group 3 (G.3; n = 9) served as a control, without injection. Blood was collected before injection and then once a week for 4 weeks after injection for evaluation of chondroitin sulfate (CS-WF6) and... -

Md. Mizanur Rahman, Yongsun Kim, Ye-Eun Byeon, Hak-Hyun Ryu, Wan Hee Kim, Mahmuda Umme Rayhan, Oh-Kyeong Kweon* 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 7 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2013, 제 14권 제 2호 8 167-173 (7 pages)
Among over 1,200 bands, 230 bands were found differentially expressed. These bands represented the fragment sizes of approximately 200 to 1,500 bp. The eight fragments were expressed differentially in the treatment group but not in the control. The sequences of two bands were similar to those of genes associated with the inflammatory process and a band was related to repair and regeneration process. Another one was related with spermatogonia and the rest four were unknown. Additionally, amplico... -

PRRSV while 198 farms were positive for type 2. Nucleotide sequences encoding the open reading frame (ORF) 5 were analyzed and compared to those of various published PRRSV isolates obtained worldwide. Sequence identity of the ORF 5 in the isolates was 81.6∼100% for type 1 viruses and 81.4∼100% for type 2 viruses. Phylogenetic analysis of the ORF 5 sequences showed that types 1 and 2 PRRSVs from Korea were mainly classified into three and four clusters, respectively. The analyzed isolates were... -
Sporozoite proteome analysis of Cryptosporidium parvum by one-dimensional SDS-PAGE and liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry
AMAM Zonaed Siddiki* 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 8 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2013, 제 14권 제 2호 1 107-114 (8 pages)
Despite the development of new technologies, new challenges still remain for large scale proteomic profiling when dealing with complex biological mixtures. Fractionation prior to liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) analysis is usually the preferred method to reduce the complexity of any biological sample. In this study, a gel LC-MS/MS approach was used to explore the stage specific proteome of Cryptosporidium (C.) parvum. To accomplish this, the sporozoite protein of C.... -
Trends in genotype frequency resulting from breeding for resistance to classical scrapie in Belgium (2006∼2011)
Alexandre Dobly*, Sara Van der Heyden, Stefan Roels 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 7 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2013, 제 14권 제 1호 7 45-51 (7 pages)
(n = 5,163), nine were abundant. The ARR/ARR frequency increased in eight of these nine major breeds. The selection program has had a major impact on the ARR haplotype frequency in Belgium. However, the occurrence of atypical scrapie represents a critical point for this program that warrants the continuous monitoring of scrapie. Additionally, genotype frequencies among the breeds varied greatly. Texel, a breed that is common in Belgium, can still be selected for due to its average ARR frequency. -
Expression and lytic efficacy assessment of the Staphylococcus aureus phage SA4 lysin gene
Anil Kumar Mishra*, Mayank Rawat, Konasagara Nagaleekar Viswas, Abhishek, Sujeet Kumar, Manjunatha Reddy 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 7 Pages

Treatment of bovine mastitis caused by Staphylococcus (S.) aureus is becoming very difficult due to the emergence of multidrug-resistant strains. Hence, the search for novel therapeutic alternatives has become of great importance. Consequently, bacteriophages and their endolysins have been identified as potential therapeutic alternatives to antibiotic therapy against S. aureus. In the present study, the gene encoding lysin (LysSA4) in S. aureus phage SA4 was cloned and the nucleotide sequence... -

(JEV) is the leading cause of viral encephalitis in Asia and domestic pigs serve as the amplifying hosts. In the present study, the full genomic sequences of two JEV strains (HEN0701 and SH0601) isolated from pigs in China were determined and compared with other 12 JEV strains deposited in GenBank. These two strains had an 88.8% nucleotide sequence similarity and 97.9% deduced amino acid sequence homology. HEN0701 had high nucleotide sequence and high amino acid sequence identity with genotype I... -

Monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) specific for the abnormal prion protein isoform (PrP) are indispensable for diagnosing chronic wasting disease (CWD). In this study, eight mAbs were developed by immunizing PrP knockout mice with recombinant elk PrP and an immunogenic PrP peptide. The reactivity of the mAbs to recombinant PrP and the PrP peptide was measured, and their isotypes were subsequently determined. Among them, four mAbs (B85-05, B85-08, B85-12, and B77-75) were shown by Western blotting to... -

identity and homology was around 97∼99%. The amino acid sequences of GB1 and GB3 differ from those of previous Bangladeshi IBDV isolates and contain amino acid substitutions Pro222Ala and Asn299Ser (in GB3 only). Phylogenetic analysis revealed that GB1 and GB3 are grouped with other very virulent IBDVs of European and American origin in contrast to two previously isolated Bangladeshi IBDV strains (GenBank accession Nos. AF362776 and AF260317), which belong to the Asian group. It was concluded... -
