이상적인 교합을 위한 개념은 우선 1)하악과두가 후 상방 위치에 있을때 모든 치아들이 firm contact을 이 루어야 하며, 2) 전방유도가 환자 개개인의 envelope of movement 와 조화를 이루어야 한다. 3) 하 악의 전방운동시에 모든 구치는 이개되어야 하며, 4) 측방운동시 비작업측의 구치는 이개되어야 한다. 마 지막으로 5) 측방운동시 작업측의 구치에 교합간섭 이 없어야 한다. -

치과 임플란트는 완전 무치악, 부분 무치악, 단일 치아 결손 환자 들의 보철 수복물로 널리 사용되고 있다. 비록 임플란트의 초기 성공 률이 90% 이상으로 대단히 높게 보고되고 있지만 사용 중에 임플란 트의 실패 및 파절이 발생되기도 한다1,2). 5년간의 임상적 연구에서 임플란트의 파절률은 0.2∼3.5%로 비교적 낮게 나타나고 있으나 15년 동안의 장기간 추적 연구에서는 기능하는 기간이 길어짐에 따 라 임플란트의 파절률이 증가되는 경향이 보고되었다. -
