Asia-Pacific journal of research in early childhood education 22 Pages
Asia-Pacific journal of research in early childhood education 2016, Vol.10 No.3 3 49-70 (22 pages)
It also investigates their perspectives of young children’s English learning in such Korean contexts as their parental struggles and expectations in relation to different socio-economic statuses, regions, and children’s gender. This endeavor attempts to fully understand how young children’s education-in this case, English learning-is situated within the complex dialectic of Korean society in which the parents’ perspectives about social values and familial expectations are intertwined. -

Asia-Pacific journal of research in early childhood education 14 Pages

a cluster randomized controlled trial (Bundy et al., 2017), the after school-hours activities of 5-7 year old children were recorded by parents and other adult carers on four consecutive weekdays between 3:30pm-7:00pm. Records of time use showed most time was spent indoors in activities involving low levels of physical activity. The most-frequently-recorded activity was screen time, accounting for approximately one quarter of all activities. Higher levels of physical activity were reported when... -
Guest Editor’s INTRODUCTION [Special Issue: Outdoor Play and Learning]
Asia-Pacific journal of research in early childhood education 5 Pages

in human history. Being outdoors generally costs nothing and can be extremely pleasurable. Yet outdoor opportunities that were once taken for granted are diminishing (Bhosale, Duncan, & Schofield, 2017; Milteer, Ginsburg, & Mulligan, 2012; Woolley & Griffin, 2015). Rhee (2016) noted that in many Asian regions, preference for more academically oriented activities in early childhood education settings has led to both indoor and outdoor play being sidelined. Outdoors is considered to be riskier and... -
The Effects of Joint Reference and Mutual Exclusivity on the Application of Whole-Object Assumption in 3-Year Olds Filipino-English Bilingual Preschool Students
Asia-Pacific journal of research in early childhood education 19 Pages

a new word/label in young children, the Mutual Exclusivity Principle and the Joint Reference Principle to determine if these override the Whole Object Assumption in word learning. Each constraint was tested through audio-visual PowerPoint slides and these were the sources of the data for this study. Through these tests, the study found that the 3-year old respondents assign a new word/label to the whole object and not to any of its parts. A new word/label, however, is assigned to a part of the... -

interface, and appropriate technological education also emerged as factors that might influence technology anxiety and perceived complexity. The findings of this study contribute to our understanding of the interaction between older individuals and diverse types of technologies. For future studies in the field of Kinesiology, it should be worthwhile and meaningful to attempt to explore older adults’ perspectives toward diverse types of technologies promoting healthy lifestyle and aging process. -
