A suspected case of Lyme borreliosis in a hunting dog in Korea
Ul Soo Choi, Hyun Wook Kim, Sung Eun You, Hee Jeong Youn* 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 3 Pages
15 89-91 (3 pages)
Spleen was enlarged by radiography, and the lymph nodes showed neutrophilic lymphadenitis by cytological examination. A polymerase chain reaction test for babesiosis and commercial ELISA tests for Ehrlichia canis, heartworm, and Lyme disease was negative except for Lyme disease, which was verified by both an IFA-IgG test and a quantitative C6 assay. Doxycycline was administered for 2 weeks and the recovery was uneventful. Post-treatment C6 titer decreased to within normal limits. -
Comparison of cardiac function and coronary angiography between conventional pigs and micropigs as measured by multidetector row computed tomography
Young Keun Ahn, Jung Min Ryu, Hea Chang Jeong, Yun Hyeon Kim, Myung Ho Jeong, Min Young Lee, Sang Hun Lee, Jae Hong Park, Seung 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 6 Pages
1 121-126 (6 pages)
Pigs are the most likely source animals for cardiac xenotransplantation. However, an appropriate method for estimating the cardiac function of micropigs had not been established. Computed tomography (CT) analysis aimed at estimating cardiac function and assessing the coronary arteries has not been carried out in micropigs. This study determined the feasibility of evaluating cardiac function in a micropig model using multidetector row computed tomography (MDCT) and compared the cardiac function... -
Phytotherapeutic effects of Echinacea purpurea in gamma-irradiated mice

in the microenvironment of the major constituents, including tyrosine and protein secondary structures. E. purpurea administration significantly ameliorated all estimated parameters. The radio-protection effectiveness was similar to the radio-recovery curativeness in comparison to the control group in most of the tested parameters. The radio-protection efficiency was greater than the radio-recovery in hemoglobin level during the first two weeks, in lymphoid cell count and TBARs level at the... -
Surgical treatment and histopathology of different forms of olecranon and presternal bursitis in cattle and buffalo
Ahmed Fathy, Khaled Radad 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 5 Pages
13 287-291 (5 pages)
Thirty seven cases of bursitis presented to our Veterinary Teaching Hospital from 2001 to 2005. There were 10 adult female buffalos with olecranon bursitis (one had bilateral bursitis) and 26 calves (7 cattle and 19 buffalos, 16 males and 10 females) with presternal bursitis. There were 10 out of 11 cases of olecranon bursitis and 21 out of 26 cases of presternal bursitis with different forms (cystic, proliferative and fibrous) that were removed surgically. The remaining 6 cases, cystic bursitis... -
Concurrent response to challenge infection with Cryptosporidium parvum in immunosuppressed C57BL/6N mice
Chan-Gu Surl , Hyeon-Cheol Kim 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 5 Pages
8 47-51 (5 pages)
We investigated the response to challenge infection with Cryptosporidium parvum oocysts in immunosuppressed C57BL/6N mice.In the primary infection, fecal oocyst shedding and parasite colonization were greater in immunosuppressed mice than in nonimmunosuppressed mice.Compared with primary infection, challenge infection with C.parvum didn 't show any oocyst shedding and parasite colonization.Especially, oocyst shedding and parasite colonization from the mice infected with heat- killed oocysts were... -
Disappearance of pericardial effusion by suspected pericardial-pleural fistula in a Miniature Schnauzer dog
Hakhyun Kim, Ji-Houn Kang, Dongwoo Chang 대한수의학회 Korean Journal of Veterinary Research(구 대한수의학회지) 4 Pages
10 115-118 (4 pages)
A 13-year-old spayed female Miniature Schnauzer was presented with complaints of intermittent syncope. Pericardial effusion was confirmed based on the physical examination, thoracic radiographs and echocardiography. Subsequently, prompt pericardiocentesis was performed. Clinical abnormalities were immediately improved after pericardiocentesis. However, the clinical signs associated with acute collapse recurred. After the second pericardiocentesis, thoracic radiographs revealed pleural effusion,... -

DAMGO modulates two-pore domain K+ channels in the substantia gelatinosa neurons of rat spinal cord
The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 7 Pages
The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 2016, Vol.20 No.5 10 525-531 (7 pages)
The analgesic mechanism of opioids is known to decrease the excitability of substantia gelatinosa (SG) neurons receiving the synaptic inputs from primary nociceptive afferent fiber by increasing inwardly rectifying K+ current. In this study, we examined whether a μ-opioid agonist, [D-Ala2,N-Me-Phe4, Gly5-ol]-enkephalin (DAMGO), affects the two-pore domain K+ channel (K2P) current in rat SG neurons using a slice whole-cell patch clamp technique. Also we confirmed which subtypes of K2P channels...
