Autologous conditioned plasma as therapy of tendon and ligament lesions in seven horses
Rindermann Georg, Cislakova Maria, Arndt Gisela, Carstanjen Bianca* 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 3 Pages
14 173-175 (3 pages)
This case report describes the intralesional application of autologous conditioned plasma (ACP) in seven horses as treatment of severe tendinitis of the superficial digital flexor tendon, deep digital flexor tendon, or desmitis of the inferior check ligament. Follow-up data of the horses revealed a positive outcome in 10 to 13 months post injury. All horses treated with ACP were either performing in their previous work-load or were back in full training. Further studies with long-term follow-up... -
Functional recovery and neural differentiation after transplantation of allogenic adipose-derived stem cells in a canine model of acute spinal cord injury
Hak-Hyun Ryu, Ji-Hey Lim, Ye-Eun Byeon, Jeong-Ran Park, Min-Soo Seo, Young-Won Lee, Wan Hee Kim, Kyung-Sun Kang*, Oh-Kyeong Kweo 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 12 Pages
1 273-284 (12 pages)
In this study, we evaluated if the implantation of allogenic adipose-derived stem cells (ASCs) improved neurological function in a canine spinal cord injury model. Eleven adult dogs were assigned to three groups according to treatment after spinal cord injury by epidural balloon compression: C group (no ASCs treatment as control), V group (vehicle treatment with PBS), and ASC group (ASCs treatment). ASCs or vehicle were injected directly into the injured site 1 week after spinal cord injury.... -
Multilobular tumour of the caudal cranium causing severe cerebral and cerebellar compression in a dog
Vassilios Psychas, Panayiotis Loukopoulos*, Zoe S. Polizopoulou, Georgios Sofianidis 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 4 Pages
13 81-84 (4 pages)
a large mass occupying the right occipital, parietal and temporal bones, severely compressing the cerebellum and the right occipital lobe. Histologically, it was characterised by the presence of multiple lobules containing osteoid or cartilage and separated by fibrous septae, features typical of MTB. Lung metastases were evident. To our knowledge, this is the first report of an MTB causing both severe cerebral and cerebellar compression and the second detailed report of an MTB of the occipital... -
Three-dimensional CT angiography of the canine hepatic vasculature
Yucheol Jeong, Changyun Lim, Sunkyoung Oh, Joohyun Jung, Jinhwa Chang, Junghee Yoon, Mincheol Choi* 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 8 Pages
11 407-414 (8 pages)
Eight Beagle dogs were anesthetized and were imaged using a single channel helical CT scanner. The contrast medium used in this study was iohexol (300 mg I/ml) and doses were 0.5 ml/kg for a cine scan, 3 ml/kg for an enhanced scan. The flow rate for contrast material administration was 2 ml/sec for all scans. This study was divided into three steps, with unenhanced, cine and enhanced scans. The enhanced scan was subdivided into the arterial phase and the venous phase. All of the enhanced scans... -
Tactics of Mycobacterium avium subsp. paratuberculosis for intracellular survival in mononuclear phagocytes
Seng-Ryong Woo, Charles J. Czuprynski* 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 8 Pages
1 1-8 (8 pages)
Johne's disease is a condition that refers to chronic granulomatous enteritis in ruminants. It is believed that survival and replication of Mycobacterium (M.) paratuberculosis in mononuclear phagocytes plays an important role in the pathogenesis of Johne's disease. However, it is not clear how M. paratuberculosis survives for long time periods in mononuclear phagocytes, nor is it clear which factors trigger multiplication of these bacilli and result in the development of Johne's disease.... -
Immunohistochemical study of osteopontin in boar testis
Seungjoon Kim, Taekyun Shin 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 4 Pages
1 107-110 (4 pages)
The expression of osteopontin (OPN) in boar testis was studied. Western blot analysis detected 66- and 32-kDa OPN immunopositive bands in the testes of adult boars. In postnatal piglets, the 66-kDa OPN band was detected in the testes, but not the 32-kDa band. In the newborn testis, OPN immunostaining was seen in gonocytes and in some supporting cells in the seminiferous tubules, as well as in interstitial Leydig cells. In the adult boar testis, OPN immunoreactivity was detected in seminiferous... -
Estrogen receptor independent neurotoxic mechanism of bisphenol A, an environmental estrogen
Yoot Mo Lee, Min Jae Seong, Jae Woong Lee, Yong Kyung Lee, Tae Myoung Kim, Sang-Yoon Nam, Dae Joong Kim, Young Won Yun, Tae Seon 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 12 Pages
5 27-38 (12 pages)
Bisphenol A (BPA), a ubiquitous environmental contaminant, has been shown to cause developmental toxicity and carcinogenic effects. BPA may have physiological activity through estrogen receptor (ER) -α and -β, which are expressed in the central nervous system. We previously found that exposure of BPA to immature mice resulted in behavioral alternation, suggesting that overexposure of BPA could be neurotoxic. In this study, we further investigated the molecular neurotoxic mechanisms of BPA. BPA... -
Transcranial Doppler ultrasound analysis of resistive index in rostral and caudal cerebral arteries in dogs
Minho Seo, Hojung Choi, Kichang Lee, Mincheol Choi, Junghee Yoon 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 6 Pages
9 61-66 (6 pages)
values of normal canine cerebral arteries and its reproducibility and to evaluate the change of cerebral vascular resistance following diuretics administration. RI values of rostral cerebral artery (RCA) were compared between fontanelle window and temporal window. Normal ranges and reproducibility of the RI values were examined in the rostal cerebral artery (RCA) and caudal cerebral artery (CCA). And after administration of diuretics, TCD-derived RI values were measured at RCA and CCA. Cerebral... -
Biological Rhythm in Livestock
Piccione Giuseppe and Caola Giovanni 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 13 Pages
1 145-157 (13 pages)
The animal time structure is a basic fact of life, no matter if one wants to study it or not. The time-dependent, mostly rhythmic, and thus to a certain degree predictable, variations of biochemical and physiological functions and of sensitivity and resistance to many environmental agents are often quite large and offer not only new insight into animal physiology and pathology but also diagnostic possibilities and therapeutic advantages. Chronobiology, chronophysiology and its subspecialities,... -
Laminitis in Przewalski horses kept in a semireserve
Klaus-Dieter Budras, Klaus Scheibe, Bianca Patan, Wolf J. Streich, Kabsu Kim 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 7 Pages
1 1-7 (7 pages)
aimed at two goals: 1. To reduce endotoxin production and acidosis in the horses by reducing the ingestion of car-bohydrate rich food. 2. To reduce the mares level of activ-ity and to prevent tearing of the suspensory apparatus of the coffin bone. To achieve these two goals it was decided to remove the three laminitic mares from the rich pasture in the main part of the semireserve and to confine them onto the poorer pasture of the small separately fenced area. All three affected mares had fully...
