a one dimensional structure make carbon nanotubes (CNTs) a promising candidate for future applications in the electronic industry [1-3]. Because of their smaller dimensions and higher conductivity as compared to copper, multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNT) may increase the bandwidth density of global interconnects [4]. They demonstrate charge carrier mean free paths between 500 nm and 10 μm as compared to 40 nm in metals. CNTs can carry exceptionally high current densities of up to 1010 A cm?2... -

ultraviolet-visible (UV-Vis), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and Raman spectroscopic techniques. Removal of oxygen containing moieties from the GO was confirmed by UV-Vis, FT-IR and XPS spectroscopic data. The XRD and Raman data further confirmed the formation of the CRG. TEM images showed the sheet structure of the synthesized CRG. These results show that the phytochemicals present in custard apple leaf extract act as excellent reducing agents. The CRG showed good dispersion in water. -

We report the use of carrot, a new and inexpensive biomaterial source, for preparing high quality carbon dots (CDs) instead of semi-conductive quantum dots for bioimaging application. The as-derived CDs possessing down and up-conversion photoluminescence features were obtained from carrot juice by commonly used hydrothermal treatment. The corresponding physiochemical and optical properties were investigated by electron microscopy, fluorescent spectrometry, and other spectroscopic methods. The... -
Synthesize multi-walled carbon nanotubes via catalytic chemical vapour deposition method on Fe-Ni bimetallic catalyst supported on kaolin

한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 2017, Vol.21 5 33-50 (18 pages)
In this study, Fe-Ni bimetallic catalyst supported on kaolin is prepared by a wet impregnation method. The effects of mass of kaolin support, pre-calcination time, pre-calcination temperature and stirring speed on catalyst yields are examined. Then, the optimal supported Fe-Ni catalyst is utilised to produce multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) using catalytic chemical vapour deposition (CCVD) method. The catalysts and MWCNTs prepared using the optimal conditions are characterized using high... -
Mechanical properties of epoxy composites reinforced with ammonia-treated graphene oxides
Mi-Seon Park, Sangmin Lee, Young-Seak Lee 한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 7 Pages
한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 2017, Vol.21 1 1-7 (7 pages)
The effects of ammonia-treated graphene oxide (GO) on composites based on epoxy resin were investigated. Ammonia solutions of different concentrations (14?28%) were used to modify GO. Nitrogen functional groups were introduced on the GO surfaces without significant structural changes. The ammonia-treated GO-based epoxy composites exhibited interesting changes in their mechanical properties related to the presence of nitrogen functional groups, particularly amine (C-NH2) groups on the GO... -

their high porosity, high surface area and controllable regular pore-structure [1-6]. Successful synthesis pathways for obtaining OMC materials include the direct synthesis of OMC materials through the organic-organic self-assembly method (soft templating process) and nano-replication of OMC materials from mesoporous silica templates (hard templating process) [7-11]. The direct synthesis method is suitable for large-scale production of carbon materials due to its easier process compared to the... -

investigated for various PAN concentrations, in an attempt to simplify and improve the polymer-wrapping process. Transmission electron microscopy analysis confirmed the wrapping of the MWCNTs and graphene with PAN layers. The interaction between the graphitic structure and the PAN molecules was examined using proton nuclear magnetic resonance, ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis, and Raman spectroscopy. The obtained results reveal... -
Effects of maleic anhydride content on mechanical properties of carbon fibers-reinforced maleic anhydride-grafted-polypropylene matrix composites

한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 2016, Vol.20 6 39-46 (8 pages)
In this work, the effects of maleic anhydride (MA) content on mechanical properties of chopped carbon fibers (CFs)-reinforced MA-grafted-polypropylene (MAPP) matrix composites. A direct oxyfluorination on CF surfaces was applied to increase the interfacial strength between the CFs and MAPP matrix. The mechanical properties of the CFs/MAPP composites are likely to be different in terms of MA content. Surface characteristics were observed by scanning electron microscope, Fourier transform infrared... -

한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 2016, Vol.20 2 10-18 (9 pages)
Nanoporous carbon structures were synthesized by pyrolysis of grass as carbon precursor. The synthesized carbon has high surface area and pore volume. The carbon products were acid functionalized and characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, Brunauer?Emmett?Teller, transmission electron microscopy, and Energy Dispersive X-ray microanalysis. Acid functionalized nanoporous carbon was explored for use in removal of toxic Cr(VI) ions from aqueous media. An... -
