대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2011, 제 12권 제 4호 1 303-307 (5 pages)
water-disperse preparation with cells of the reticuloendothelial system. We compared the kinetic parameters of aqueous and water- disperse diminazene in sheep erythrocytes and plasma. The therapeutic properties of these two preparations were also compared. We found that the surface-active substances improved intracellular penetration of the active substance through interaction with the cell membrane. In sheep blood erythrocytes, micellar diminazene accumulated more than its aqueous analog. This... -

대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2010, 제 11권 제 4호 5 305-313 (9 pages)
The objective of this study was to explore the immunomodulatory effects of betulinic acid (BA) extracted from the bark of white birch on mice. Female mice were orally administered BA for 14 days in doses of 0, 0.25, 0.5, and 1 mg/kg body weight. We found that BA significantly enhanced the thymus and spleen indices, and stimulated lymphocyte proliferation induced by Concanavalin A and lipopolysaccharide as shown by MTT assay. Flow cytometry revealed that BA increased the percentage of CD4 cells... -

Sungjin Ko, Jun-Gu Kang, Su Yeon Kim, Heung-Chul Kim, Terry A. Klein, Sung-Tae Chong, William J. Sames, Seok-Min Yun, Young-Ran 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 7 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2010, 제 11권 제 3호 4 197-203 (7 pages)
The prevalence of tick-borne encephalitis virus (TBEV) in southern Korea was determined by collecting ticks using tick drags. A total of 4,077 of 6,788 ticks collected were pooled (649 pools) according to collection site, species, and developmental stage and assayed for TBEV. The TBEV protein E and NS5 gene fragments were detected using RT-nested PCR in six pools of nymphs collected from Jeju Island (2,491 ticks). The minimum field detection rates for TBEV were 0.17% and 0.14% for Haemaphysalis... -
Involvement of the Fas and Fas ligand in testicular germ cell apoptosis by zearalenone in rat
Youngheun Jee, Eun-Mi Noh, Eun-Sang Cho, Hwa-Young Son 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 5 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2010, 제 11권 제 2호 4 115-119 (5 pages)
Zearalenone (ZEA), a nonsteroidal estrogenic mycotoxin, is known to cause testicular toxicity in animals. In the present study, the effects of ZEA on spermatogenesis and possible mechanisms involved in germ cell injury were examined in rats. Ten-week-old Sprague-Dawley rats were treated with 5 mg/kg i.p. of ZEA and euthanized 3, 6, 12, 24 or 48 h after treatment. Histopathologically, spermatogonia and spermatocytes were found to be affected selectively. They were TUNEL-positive and found to be... -
Antimutagenic and anticarcinogenic effect of methanol extracts of Petasites japonicus Maxim leaves
Hwan-Goo Kang, Sang-Hee Jeong*, †, Joon-Hyoung Cho 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 8 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2010, 제 11권 제 1호 8 51-58 (8 pages)
The methanol extract from the leaves of Petasites japonicus Maxim (PJ) was studied for its (anti-)mutagenic effect with the SOS chromotest and reverse mutation assay. The (anti-)carcinogenic effects were evaluated by the cytotoxicity on human cancer line cells and by the function and the expression of gap junctions in rat liver epithelial cell. PJ extracts significantly decreased spontaneous β-galactosidase activity and β-galactosidase activity induced by a mutagen, ICR, in Salmonella (S.)... -
The expression of plasmid mediated afimbrial adhesin genes in an avian septicemic Escherichia coli strain
Eliana Guedes Stehling, *, Tatiana Amabile Campos, Marcelo Brocchi, Vasco Ariston de Carvalho Azevedo, Wanderley Dias da Silveira 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 9 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2008, 제 9권 제 1호 10 75-83 (9 pages)
An Escherichia coli strain (SEPT13) isolated from the liver of a hen presenting clinical signs of septicaemia had a LD50 of 4.0 × 105 CFU/ml in one-day-old chickens, expressed Ia, Ib, E1, E3, K and B colicins and aerobactin. The strain was ampicillin and streptomycin resistant, and found to have fimA, csgA and tsh DNA related sequences; it could adhere to and invade HEp-2 and tracheal epithelial cells, expressed fimbriae (observed by electron microscopy), and had five plasmids of 2.7, 4.7,... -

Seong Joon Joh, Yong Kuk Kwon, Min Chul Kim, Min Jeong Kim, Hyuk Man Kwon, Jung Won Park, Jun Hun Kwon, Jae Hong Kim 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 3 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2007, 제 8권 제 2호 7 147-149 (3 pages)
Ten eels (Anguilla japonica) from a fish farm in Korea were examined and diagnosed with a Heterosporis infection. The gross lesions on the trunk were uneven and the concave parts were pasty. Histopathologically, lyses of the trunk muscles, degenerative muscle fibers and the scattered spores were observed. The sporophorocyst (SPC) contained several spores with a variety of shapes. Some SPC were disrupted and the spores in the SPC were scattered in the muscle tissues. Macrophages existed near the... -

Escherichia coli (E. coli) strains were collected from young diarrheic calves in farms and field. Strains that expressed the K99 (F5) antigen were identified by agglutination tests using reference antibodies to K99 antigen and electron microscopy. The K99 antigen from a selected field strain (SAR-14) was heat-extracted and fractionated on a Sepharose CL-4B column. Further purification was carried out by sodium deoxycholate treatment and/or ion-exchange chromatography. Monoclonal antibodies to... -
