Evaluation of a Fungal Strain, Myrothecium roridum F0252, as a Bioherbicide Agent
한국식물병리학회 The Plant Pathology Journal 8 Pages
한국식물병리학회 The Plant Pathology Journal 2008, 24권 4호 12 453-460 (8 pages)
the morphological characteristics and 18S ribosomal DNA sequence analysis and registered as Myrothecium roridum F0252. In order to evaluate the in vitro effect of M. roridum F0252 on germination of ladino clover and white clover (Trifolium repens L.) seeds, spore solution of the fungus was employed in two concentrations, 6.5×106 and 2.5× 107 spores per mL and then inoculated to the seeds. The fungal spores inhibited the seed germination, infected the seedlings, and caused an abnormal withering... -
Purification and Phytotoxicity of Apicidins Produced by the Fusarium semitectum KCTC16676
한국식물병리학회 The Plant Pathology Journal 6 Pages
한국식물병리학회 The Plant Pathology Journal 2008, 24권 4호 7 417-422 (6 pages)
Apicidin is a cyclic tetrapeptide produced by some Fusarium species and is known to inhibit Apicomplexan histone deacetylase. The goals of this study were to determine species identity of Fusarium isolate KCTC16676, an apicidin producer, to improve a method for apicidin extraction, and to test phytotoxicity of apicidin and its analogs. We compared sequences of the translation elongation factor 1-alpha (TEF) gene in KCTC16676 with those from isolates representing diverse Fusarium species, which... -
Fusarium Wilt of Korean Blackberry Caused by Fusarium cugenangense

of Fusarium sp. were obtained from the diseased plants and examined for their morphological and molecular characteristics. All the isolates belonged to Fusarium oxysporum species complex based on the morphological characteristics but were identified as F. cugenangense based on the molecular characteristics. Two isolates of F. cugenangense were tested for pathogenicity on Korean black- berry plants by artificial inoculation. Pathogenicity of the two isolates on the plants was confirmed with the... -
Morphology and Molecular Characteristics of Alternaria sonchi Causing Brown Leaf Spot on Sonchus asper in Korea

blighting of the leaves. The isolates from these leaf lesions were identified as Alternaira sonchi based on morphological characteristics and phylogenetic analyses of Internal transcribed spacer region, Alternaria allergen a1, glyceraldehyde 3-phosphate dehydrogenase, RNA polymerase II, and translation elongation factor genes. This study pro- vides a comprehensive description of the morphological characteristics and phylogenetical traits of A. sonchi causing brown leaf spot on S. asper in Korea. -
The First Report of Fusarium solani Causing Wilting in Cnidium officinale in Korea

is a perennial herb belonging to the family Umbelliferae. Its origin is China and is also dis- tributed in Korea and Japan. In 2017, a phenomenon of browning and wilting of leaves was discovered in the cultivation field of the National Institute of Forest Science, Suwon, Korea. The pathogens isolated from plants were consistent with Fusarium solani as a result of morphological examination and molecular phylogenetic analysis. This is the first record of F. solani on C. officinale in Korea. -
Ecological Factors Influencing Severity of Cashew Fusarium Wilt Disease in Tanzania
Stanslaus A. Lilai, Fortunus A. Kapinga, Wilson A. Nene, William V. Mbasa, Donatha D. Tibuhwa 한국식물병리학회 식물병연구 12 Pages
한국식물병리학회 식물병연구 2021, 27권 2호 1 49-60 (12 pages)
Cashew (Anacardium occidentale L.) is an important cash crop in Tanzania as a source of income to cashew growers and provides foreign exchange for the country. Despite its significance, the crop is threatened by fast spreading disease known as cashew Fusarium wilt caused by Fusarium oxysporum. Field assessment and laboratory tests were conducted to determine incidences of the disease, severity, ecological factors that influence them and explored the pathogen host specificity in six cashew... -
Causal Fungus of Side Rot on ‘Zesy002’ Kiwifruit in Jeju Island, South Korea
Magda Ledesma, Yong Ho Shin, Sonia Whiteman, Joy Tyson, Gyoung Hee Kim, Jeum Kyu Hong, Birgit Zange, Yong Chull Jeun 한국식물병리학회 식물병연구 8 Pages
한국식물병리학회 식물병연구 2021, 27권 1호 4 24-31 (8 pages)
Since the past few years, dimple rot has become one of the most serious diseases affecting Actinidia chinensis var. chinensis ‘Zesy002’ kiwifruit in Korea, leading to a low quality and subsequent losses of income. In the current study, the causal pathogen of side rot on ‘Zesy002’ kiwifruit was identified to be Botryosphaeria dothi- dea, a widespread pathogen that could penetrate the fruit directly without wounding. Diaporthe sp., another pathogen causing dimple rot, was isolated from... -
First Report of Botrytis Mold Caused by Botrytis cinerea on Peonies (Paeonia lactiflora Pall.)
Hyo Jeong Kim, Min Young Park, Kyung-Cheol Ma, Young Cheol Kim 한국식물병리학회 식물병연구 4 Pages
한국식물병리학회 식물병연구 2020, 26권 4호 11 279-282 (4 pages)
In 2019, symptoms of Botrytis mold on the peony (Paeonia lactiflora Pall.) ‘Sarah Bernhardt’ were observed during a survey of the commercial greenhouses of Gangjin County, South Korea. The initial symptoms, small brown spots, were observed mainly at the leaf margins. The lesions extended to the interior of leaves forming irregular spots in which abundant conidia developed. Fungal colonies were obtained from surface-sterilized tissue excised from growing edges of the lesions that were... -
First Report of Phytophthora Leaf Blight and Vine Rot of Kudzu (Pueraria lobata) in Korea

of Phytophthora has been repeatedly isolated from the infected leaves. Identification in species level of the Phytophthora sp. remained unsolved. An isolate, KACC 47616 originally collected from Manchon Park in Daegu, has been kept in our laboratory. In 2013, three new isolates, KACC 47617 and KACC 47618 from Yeongyang and KACC 47619 from Gunwi in Gyeongbuk province, were collected and examined to classify up to species level by characterizing morphology, response to temperature and phylogenetic... -

by morphological characteristics, pathoge- nicity and PCR assay. The morphological characteristics of colonies formed very slow-growing, pulvinate, or raised and deeply fissured, gummy to mucoid or tomentose colonies on potato dextrose agar medium. The pathogens were pathogenic to leaves of Satsuma mandarin, lemon, sour orange and grapefruit with typical scab symptoms. In PCR assay, specific amplified of products of 717 bp with Efaw-1 and 384 bp with Efaw-2 were observed from trifoliate isolates...
