한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 2017, Vol.24 2 10-17 (8 pages)
With continuous development in the field of sample preparation technology, solid phase micro-extraction (SPME) has been widely used in analytical chemistry for high extraction efficiency and convenient operation. Different materials lead to different extraction results. Among existing materials, carbon-based materials are still attracting attention from scientists due to their excellent physical and chemical properties as well as their modifiable surfaces, which could enhance the adsorption... -
Lyocell-based activated carbon fibers improved the adsorption of harmful gas properties when produced via dual-simultaneous treatments
Byong Chol Bai, Ji Sun Im, Young-Seak Lee 한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 5 Pages
한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 2017, Vol.23 10 69-73 (5 pages)
In gas adsorption processes, activated carbon fibers (ACFs) are used for the adsorption of the harmful gases that are generated by coal or oil combustion, and they have been widely studied [1,2]. ACFs have been used for harmful gas removal because of their specific surface area, micropores, reproducibility, safety, and processing ability, which are beneficial properties for a wide range of applications [3,4]. -
Electrochemical determination of chloramphenicol using a glassy carbon electrode modified with dendrite-like Fe₃O₄ nanoparticles
Krishnan Giribabu, Sung-Chan Jang, Yuvaraj Haldorai, Muruganantham Rethinasabapathy, Seo Yeong Oh, Arunkumar Rengaraj, Young-Kyu Han 한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 10 Pages
한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 2017, Vol.23 6 38-47 (10 pages)
In this study, magnetite (Fe3O4) nanoparticles were electrochemically synthesized in an aqueous electrolyte at a given potential of -1.3 V for 180 s. Scanning electron microscopy revealed that dendrite-like Fe3O4 nanoparticles with a mean size of < 80 nm were electrodeposited on a glassy carbon electrode (GCE). The Fe3O4/GCE was utilized for sensing chloramphenicol (CAP) by cyclic voltammetry and square wave voltammetry. A reduction peak of CAP at the Fe3O4/GCE was observed at 0.62 V, whereas... -

Today, finding superior methods for synthesis of graphene oxide (GO) and reduced graphene oxide (rGO) from commercial graphite, is still a challenge. The global industry requires the use of synthesis methods that are price-competitive and also use processes that are environmentally compatible. GO is a substrate used for several chemical transformations, including its reduction to related materials, such as rGO and graphene. The rGO has been used recently to increase catalytic activity in the... -
Adsorption capability of activated carbon synthesized from coconut shell
Md Shariful Islam, Bee Chin Ang, Samira Gharehkhani, Amalina Binti, Muhammad Afifi 한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 9 Pages
한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 2016, Vol.20 1 1-9 (9 pages)
Activated carbon was synthesized from coconut shells. The Brunauer, Emmett and Teller surface area of the synthesized activated carbon was found to be 1640 m2/g with a pore volume of 1.032 cm3/g. The average pore diameter of the activated carbon was found to be 2.52 nm. By applying the size-strain plot method to the X-ray diffraction data, the crystallite size and the crystal strain was determined to be 42.46 nm and 0.000489897, respectively, which indicate a perfect crystallite structure. The... -
Study on urea precursor effect on the electroactivities of nitrogen-doped graphene nanosheets electrodes for lithium cells
Ki-Yong Kim, Yongju Jung, Seok Kim 한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 7 Pages
한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 2016, Vol.19 5 40-46 (7 pages)
Nitrogen-atom doped graphene oxide was considered to prevent the dissolution of polysulfide and to guarantee the enhanced redox reaction of sulfur for good cycle performance of lithium sulfur cells. In this study, we used urea as a nitrogen source due to its low cost and easy preparation. To find the optimum urea content, we tested three different ratios of urea to graphene oxide. The morphology of the composites was examined by field emission scanning electron microscope. Functional groups and... -
Synthesis, characterization, and toxicity of multi-walled carbon nanotubes functionalized with 4-hydroxyquinazoline
Hasan Tahermansouri, Atieh Mirosanloo, Saeed Heidari Keshel, Mossa Gardaneh 한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 8 Pages
한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 2016, Vol.17 No.1 7 45-52 (8 pages)
The attachment of 2-aminobenzamide to carboxylated multi-wall carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs)- COOH was achieved through the formation of amide bonds. Then, the functionalized MWCNTs, MWCNT-amide, were treated by phosphoryl chloride to produce MWCNT-quin. The products were characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, Raman spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, thermogravimetric analysis, derivative thermogravimetric, steady-state fluorescence spectroscopy, and solubility testing.... -
