Joseph Tobin 환태평양유아교육연구학회 Asia-Pacific journal of research in early childhood education 20 Pages
환태평양유아교육연구학회 Asia-Pacific journal of research in early childhood education 2011, Vol.5 No.1 1 3-22 (20 pages)
Countries have implicit cultural beliefs and practices about early childhood education which they tend to undervalue and which, as a result, are endangered. The Preschool in Three Cultures Revisited study includes examples of such implicit cultural beliefs and practices in Chinese, Japanese, and US preschools. The paper argues that early childhood practitioners, policy makers, and scholars should give greater value to these cultural beliefs and practices and think of them as national treasures... -

Numerous studies have long confirmed the importance of the director in a kinder- garten. However, the role of the director has always been ambiguous in affiliated kindergartens of public elementary schools in Taiwan. The objectives of this study were: 1. To investigate the roles a novice director plays in her first-year administrative work. 2. To explore the challenges faced by this novice director. Singapore Preschool Teachers' Responses to the Introduction of A Framework for a Kindergarten Curriculum in the Context of 3 Preschool Settings
Lynn Ang Ling-Yin 환태평양유아교육연구학회 Asia-Pacific journal of research in early childhood education 27 Pages
환태평양유아교육연구학회 Asia-Pacific journal of research in early childhood education 2008, Vol.2 No.1 4 55-81 (27 pages)
The teachers in this pilot study welcomed the curriculum framework but had reservations about it. For them, the three main issues were limitations in funding and resources to implement the Framework, a need for training, and the expectations of parents for a more formal approach to the curriculum. The cultural and economic context in which the preschools are located seem to have some influence on the teachers' ability to implement the Framework and on how the curriculum is delivered to children. -
